A Canby-area man      Drunk Illegal Generic Mexican  was critically injured early Sunday morning when he lost control of his pickup on Highway 99E south of Canby and rolled multiple times.

On March 15, 2009 at approximately 4:50 a.m. a 1997 Ford pickup driven by CARLOS DUENAS-GONZALEZ, age 23, from Canby, was northbound on Highway 99E about a quarter mile south of Barlow Road when, for an unknown reason, lost control sliding sideways off the highway and rolled at least three times. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers investigating the crash reported from the area the pickup left the highway to where it came to rest was approximately 600 feet.DUENAS-GONZALEZ was believed to be using safety restraints and critically injured. Following initial care at the scene by Canby Fire Department personnel, he was transported by ground ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences University.

OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.

ODOT assisted with traffic control. Highway 99E was closed at the scene of the crash for about 2 1/2 hours.
