Salem Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Salem Parkway and Hyacinth St NESalem Police Dept.

Salem Police responded to a fatal accident on the Salem Parkway at Hyacinth St NE at 2:45 pm on Saturday afternoon. The investigation revealed that 50-year old Jose Valle-Romero of Aloha was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra northbound on the Salem Parkway when he lost control in the snow and slid sideways into the southbound lanes. The Sentra was then struck on its passenger side by a 2004 Volvo being driven southbound by 60-year old William Howe of Lake Oswego. Jose Valle-Romero and his son, 19-year old Eric Valle, were transported to Salem Hospital with unknown injuries. William Howe was not injured, but his 21-year old son and another 22-year old male passenger in his vehicle were transported to Salem Hospital with unknown injuries. 48-year old Blanca Valle was a passenger in the Nissan Sentra and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident appears to be weather related and remains under investigation. No citations have been issued so far, and the roadway re-opened at approximately 6:30 pm.

On December 8, 2008 at approximately 7:20 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to an armed robbery at Quik Cash Payday Loans, 5210 E. Fourth Plain Blvd. A Quik Cash employee was closing the business when she was contacted by the suspect in the lobby. The suspect displayed a handgun and forced the employee into the rear office and demanded she open the safe. The suspect struck the employee in the head before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his 30′s approx. 5-7 250 with a heavy build. He was wearing a heavy black, puffy jacket, Levis and a black beanie. He also has a noticeably crooked nose as if it had been broken in the past. A composite of the suspect is attached. Anyone with information on the possible identity of the suspect is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department Tip Line at (360) 487-7399.

A Portland-area man drunk crazy illegal mexicanwas found seriously injured by his wife Tuesday morning in a field near a church following an alcohol-involved overnight single vehicle crash along Highway 99E north of Canby.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Recruit Trooper Dessa DeForest, on December 30, 2008 at approximately 7:15 a.m. a report was received of a vehicle in an open field next to the Church of the Nazarene east of Highway 99E near E. Territorial Road. Police and fire personnel responded to the scene and found a 1990 Jeep Cherokee with a seriously injured male driver inside about 125 feet off the highway. The driver, identified as LUIS MIGUEL ROBLES, age 25, from southeast Portland, was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigation indicates ROBLES talked to his wife prior to 2:30 a.m. and was enroute home after getting off work at a Canby-areas restaurant earlier in the evening. Roadway evidence shows his Jeep was northbound near milepost 18 when it drove off the right shoulder into a ditch, struck a sign and a tree, then spun around and finally came to a stop in the open field. His wife reported the crash this morning after finding ROBLES seriously injured in his vehicle.

Subsequent to the investigation, ROBLES was cited by Recruit Trooper DeForest to appear in Clackamas County Circuit Court for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

OSP troopers were assisted at the scene by Canby Police Department and Canby Fire Department.

SKOKIE — Osial Hernandez, the 7-month-old child inside a van stolen from the Northwest Side has been found safe, police said.
Workmen in the area heard him crying and saw the infant inside the parked van. The baby did not appear to be harmed, but is at a local hospital, police said. He has been reunited with his family.
Chicago detectives this evening were still trying to determine why the van was taken from a parking lot outside a building where the boy’s mother had been working(fucking stupid cops).Osial was left sleeping in the van by his mother, Nuri Salgado,a newspaper distributor. She left him in the van with the engine running while she was bundling newspapers for delivery inside a warehouse on the 4200 block of West Bryn Mawr, police said.
At about 3:30 a.m., she came out of the Bryn Mawr Distribution Center to check on her son, who was wrapped in a blanket. He was OK, so she went back inside. When she returned shortly afterward, the van was gone, said Kelley Wilde, manager of the distribution center.
Meanwhile, before the call came into police, officers stopped the van near Bryn Mawr and Pulaski at 3:40 a.m. because its lights were turned off and it was in an area where a crime had occurred. Police said they did not receive a 911 call about the missing baby until 4:35 a.m.
At the time of the traffic stop, officers were unaware the child was missing and did not know the van had been stolen, police said.
The officers were called off to respond to shots fired elsewhere and let the driver of the van go.
Wilde said there was a delay in reporting the stolen van — and the missing baby — because she and Osial’s mother had searched the area to see if someone had moved the vehicle.
Police said the driver of the van was between 35 and 45, clean-shaven, Hispanic ( generic mexican)and wearing dark pants and a beige blazer with a fur lining around the collar.
His father, Francisco Hernandez, said the baby was being breast-fed. Hernandez had been concerned that Osial went without food during the day.

Toward the end of this month, Adelante Mujeres — or Onward Women will add a mini-version of itself with Adelante Chicas — Onward Young Girls. The program will cater to girls, ages 9 to 13, at three Forest Grove schools, eventually moving into the local high school and, if all goes well, surrounding school districts.
It’s a bold but natural move for a 5-year-old organization that has been lauded by groups across the metro area and even in Mexico for its unusually intimate approach and diverse offerings.
Now, young Latinas — some the daughters of women who make up the adult-version of Adelante — are set to gain from an ample menu of life skills. In weekly after-school focus groups, they will talk about peer aggression, sexuality, confidence, career goals and what it is like to straddle two cultures.
“Learning how to live in a culture their parents are unfamiliar with while maneuvering how to still be a Latina will be essential to their self-esteem.,” said Executive Director Bridget Cooke, who is launching the program with help of private grants.
What: Adelante Chicas or Onward Young Girls, a new program to empower young Latinas, ages 9 to 13.

Forty-five girls have already been selected from Fern Hill Elementary School, Tom McCall Upper Elementary School and Neil Armstrong Middle School. Respectively, Latinas make up roughly 36 percent, 23 percent and 22 percent of the student population.
Adelante Chicas will include a mix of thriving and struggling girls.
Susana Plancarte hopes she made the list. The 11-year-old’s participation in a six-week pilot of the program over the summer left her wanting more.
“I was so much fun,” said Plancarte, a first generation Mexican-American. “I didn’t want it to end. We talked about being girls, I made new friends, we did a little book about our goals and talked about other stuff, like our families.”
Just as Adelante has done with women, the Adelante Chicas’ will build on family and leadership. This will give way to better choices, more education and independence –
Already, after-school programs at Tom McCall keep many students focused. But Adelante Chicas will offer something different, said Assistant Principal Chandra Wilson.
Nancy Ochoa, Adelante Chicas’ new coordinator, is confident the youth program will to take off.
“Just knowing how much these resources are needed, I know that these girls will feel connected and they, themselves, will begin to

recruit other Latinas.”
