Hundreds of Portland families lined up today to receive one of 500 food boxes given away for Thanksgiving by the Sunshine Division. The food boxes were sponsored and packed by Zupan’s Markets, which raised the money with its annual Taste of Zupan’s event.

“Even though we were expecting the crowds, I was amazed at the long line of people waiting,” said Officer Phil Kent, Sunshine Division Operations Manager. “It’s hard to see this many people in need.”

Officer Kent says the Sunshine Division, which is the only 24/7 direct emergency food provider is getting overwhelmed with demand for food. “People are lining up every day before we even get here. We have increased our services by 40%. Unfortunately, cash donations are down and we are looking at now having to reduce our services if we do not raise donations in the next month.

OREGON CITY — The family of a Texas girl murdered in 2007 is suing Clackamas County, claiming law enforcement officers knew her killer illegally entered the United States and failed to report him to immigration authorities.

The estate of Dani Countryman is seeking $3.5 million in damages, according to the Clackamas County Circuit Court filing.

Countryman, 15, died during a sexual assault July 28, 2007, after an all-night party at an Oak Grove apartment complex. She was in Oregon visiting relatives.

Edward S. McGlone III, assistant Clackamas County counsel, declined to comment on the complaint.

Alejandro Emeterio “Alex” Rivera Gamboa, 26, was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 35 years. He attempted to subdue Countryman, fatally choking her, as his cousin, Gilberto Javier “Gabe” Arellano Gamboa, tried to rape her.

Arellano Gamboa, 25, was sentenced to five years, 10 months in prison.

Both men were in the country illegally and will be deported to Mexico after serving their sentences.

The lawsuit claims that a Clackamas County probation officer and unnamed sheriff’s office employees failed to report Rivera Gamboa to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Oregonian reported that Rivera Gamboa pleaded guilty to drunken driving in November 2006. He signed a plea agreement that stated he was not a U.S. citizen and was released without anyone in the criminal justice system notifying immigration authorities.

BETHANY, Ore. – Police said the three bodies found in a home of a Southeast Bethany neighborhood Wednesday was the result of a murder-suicide.An out-of-country Indian relative of the family called the Washington County Sheriff’s office around 11:30 a.m. and asked it to check on the family after that relative became concerned about the family.Washington County detectives said they believe that 44-year-old Mukesh Suther shot his 39-year-old wife, Varsha, and 9-year-old son, then shot himself with a handgun. All three were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said they had trouble contacting the next of kin because the mother of one of the people found in the home lives in India.

Police also have not said how the murder-suicide occurred.Authorities blocked off about a block of the neighborhood while they investigated the incident.People in the community said the family was well-known and that Varsha Suther ran a salon out ( bet she didnt pay taxes or have a business license) of the house.Friends of the family are shocked and they said the tragedy may be related to money problems. Varsha Suthar ran a beauty salon from her Bethany home, where clients say her husband greeted them with a smile and she was always upbeat and positive.

Sgt. Bob Ray, a department spokesman, said the family was found in one of the house’s three bedrooms. The rental home in the 16900 block of Northwest Oak Creek Drive is owned by Mukesh Suthar’s brother, Saleish Suthar.

Deport Sunita Mody, 54, said Varsha Suthar operated the salon in a second-floor bedroom in the family’s home. Mody said she went there for facials and to have her eyebrows done, last visiting the home about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Mody and her husband, Jaisen Mody, 59, said they occasionally saw the Suthars at the Portland Temple in Tigard. Jaisen Mody is the president of the India Cultural Association in Portland and said his group is interested in joining with other organizations and temples to establish some kind of memorial fund.

“We have a lot of associations and we’re all going to come together,” Jaisen Mody said. “It affects our community quite a bit.”

Police say Torrentes was one of as many as 10 people who participated in the Oct. 24 attack on the girl in a dimly lit courtyard on campus. The victim was found naked and semi-conscious after the nearly two-hour assault.

Contra Costa County prosecutors have filed rape charges against five others, ranging in age from 15 to 21.

“An illegal used my SS number and two cops showed up at my door one morning and took me to jail in front of my family. He robbed a bank and shot people. I was guilty until proven innocent, spent over $68,000 to hire a lawyer to clear it up, and spent 2 days in jail and posted a family cash bond of over $500,000 before the other inmates killed me because a child was hurt in the robbery.
Plus my family had to come up and get my info from me for my files at the house to cancel credit cards and every thing else he used from that #. It was found later that he just made the number up and it was mine. I ended up losing my job because it took 8 months to clear up, then I lost my house. Taht was two years ago and the economy went bad during that time and there is nothing left. When my kid got sick I couldn’t get him treated because they cancelled my insurance I never defaulted on in 17 years. I can’t even explain the other problems this created, and I am still dealing with it with my credit reports and all that. This ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ruined my life, and he busted bond and went back to Mexico.

Father Richard Heene will plead guilty to attempting to influence a public servant, a felony, with a stipulated sentence to probation, according to the statement. In the statement, Lane said authorities insisted that Richard Heene “fall on his sword” and take a felony plea.

The parents who set off a worldwide drama by reporting their 6-year-old son was inside a flying saucer-like helium balloon hurtling over Colorado concocted the stunt to market themselves for a television show, a sheriff said Sunday.

Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said at an extraordinarily candid news conference that the boy, Falcon Heene, may not have even been hiding in the rafters of the family’s garage during the intense five-hour search for him Thursday afternoon.

“For all we know he may have been two blocks down the road playing on the swing in the city park,” the sheriff said.

Alderden said the parents Richard and Mayumi Heene “put on a very good show for us, and we bought it.”

The sheriff said no charges had been filed yet, and the parents weren’t under arrest. He said he expected to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant.

Some of the most serious charges each carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

Richard Heene said he’s “seeking counsel,” though it was unclear whether he was talking about hiring an attorney.

He said his wife was holding together better than he was.

The sheriff said all three of the Heenes’ sons knew of the Thursday hoax, but likely won’t face charges because of their ages. The oldest son is 10. One of the boys told investigators he saw his brother get in the balloon’s box before it launched.

Heene, a storm chaser and inventor, and his family have appeared on the reality show “Wife Swap.” Alderden said the couple met in acting school in Hollywood. Richard Heene has described himself as an amateur scientist, but Alderden said Heene has only a high school education.

“He may be nutty, but he’s not a professor,” Alderden said.

Alderden said interviews with the parents Saturday resulted in enough information to get a warrant to search the house. He said they were looking for computers, e-mails, phone records and financial records.

Alderden said the children were still with the parents Sunday morning, and child protective services had been contacted to investigate the children’s well-being.

Alderden was asked whether officials had concerns for Falcon’s safety after the child’s comment on CNN that raised doubts for investigators. The boy turned to his dad during the interview Thursday night and said what sounded like “you said we did this for a show” when asked why he didn’t come out of his hiding place.

On Friday, Falcon got sick during two separate TV interviews Friday when asked again why he hid.

“Clearly, from all indications, Mr. Heene has somewhat of a temper,” Alderden said.

Alderden said officials tried Saturday to persuade Mayumi Heene to go to a safe house, but she declined.

“We talked to her at length about domestic violence, about her safety, about her children’s safety,” the sheriff said. “We have a concern, but we didn’t have enough that would allow us or child protective services to physically take the kids from that environment.”

A Colorado State University physics professor, using dimensions given by Richard Heene, had told sheriff’s officials as they were tracking the balloon Thursday that it was plausible for it to lift off with 37-pound Falcon inside.

Once the device landed, sheriff’s officials discovered it was made with plastic tarps taped together and covered with aluminum foil, with a utility box made of a very thin piece of plywood, cardboard on the side, held together with string and duct tape, Alderden said.

Using the true dimensions, the professor determined it could not have launched with the boy inside, Alderden said.

NEW YORK (AP) — One of America’s wealthiest swarthy immigrants males men was among six hedge fund managers and corporate executives arrested Friday in a hedge fund insider trading case that authorities say generated more than $25 million in illegal profits and was a wake-up call for Wall Street.

Also charged in the scheme are Rajiv Goel, 51, of Los Altos, Calif., a director of strategic investments at Intel Capital, the investment arm of Intel Corp., Anil Kumar, 51, of Santa Clara, Calif., a director at McKinsey & Co. Inc., a global management consulting firm, and Robert Moffat, 53, of Ridgefield, Conn., senior vice president and group executive at International Business Machines Corp.’s Systems and Technology Group.

Raj Rajaratnam, a portfolio manager for Galleon Group, a hedge fund with up to $7 billion in assets under management, was accused of conspiring with others to use insider information to trade securities in several publicly traded companies, including Google Inc.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas F. Eaton set bail at $100 million to be secured by $20 million in collateral despite a request by prosecutors to deny bail. He also ordered Rajaratnam, who has both U.S. and Sri Lankan citizenship, to stay within 110 miles of New York City.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara told a news conference it was the largest hedge fund case ever prosecuted and marked the first use of court-authorized wiretaps to capture conversations by suspects in an insider trading case.

He said the case should cause financial professionals considering insider trades in the future to wonder whether law enforcement is listening.

“Greed is not good,” Bharara said. “This case should be a wake-up call for Wall Street.”

Joseph Demarest Jr., the head of the New York FBI office, said it was clear that “the $20 million in illicit profits come at the expense of the average public investor.”

The Securities and Exchange Commission, which brought separate civil charges, said the scheme generated more than $25 million in illegal profits.

Robert Khuzami, director of enforcement at the SEC, said the charges show Rajaratnam’s “secret of success was not genius trading strategies.”

“He is not the master of the universe. He is a master of the Rolodex,” Khuzami said.

Galleon Group LLP said in a statement it was shocked to learn of Rajaratnam’s arrest at his apartment. “We had no knowledge of the investigation before it was made public and we intend to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities,” the statement said.

The firm added that Galleon “continues to operate and is highly liquid.”

Rajaratnam, 52, was ranked No. 559 by Forbes magazine this year among the world’s wealthiest billionaires, with a $1.3 billion net worth.

According to the Federal Election Commission, he is a generous contributor to Democratic candidates and causes. The FEC said he made over $87,000 in contributions to President Barack Obama’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee and various campaigns on behalf of Hillary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer and New Jersey U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez in the past five years. The Center for Responsive Politics, a watchdog group, said he has given a total of $118,000 since 2004 — all but one contribution, for $5,000, to Democrats.

The Associated Press has learned that even before his arrest, Rajaratnam was under scrutiny for helping bankroll Sri Lankan militants notorious for suicide bombings.

Papers filed in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn allege that Rajaratnam worked closely with a phony charity that channeled funds to the Tamil Tiger terrorist organization. Those papers refer to him only as “Individual B.” But U.S. law enforcement and government officials familiar with the case have confirmed that the individual is Rajaratnam.

At an initial court appearance in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Assistant U.S. Attorney Josh Klein sought detention for Rajaratnam, saying there was “a grave concern about flight risk” given Rajaratnam’s wealth and his frequent travels around the world.

His lawyer, Jim Walden, called his client a “citizen of the world,” who has made more than $20 million in charitable donations in the last five years and had risen from humble beginnings in the finance profession to oversee hedge funds responsible for nearly $8 billion.

Walden promised “there’s a lot more to this case” and his client was ready to prepare for it from home. Rajaratnam lives in a $10 million condominium with his wife of 20 years, their three children and two elderly parents. Walden noted that many of his employees were in court ready to sign a bail package on his behalf.

Rajaratnam — born in Sri Lanka and a graduate of University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business — has been described as a savvy manager of billions of dollars in technology and health care hedge funds at Galleon, which he started in 1996. The firm is based in New York City with offices in California, China, Taiwan and India. He lives in New York.

According to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Rajaratnam obtained insider information and then caused the Galleon Technology Funds to execute trades that earned a profit of more than $12.7 million between January 2006 and July 2007. Other schemes garnered millions more and continued into this year, authorities said.

Bharara said the defendants benefited from tips about the earnings, earnings guidance and acquisition plans of various companies. Sometimes, those who provided tips received financial benefits and sometimes they just traded tips for more inside information, he added.

The timing of the arrests might be explained by a footnote in the complaint against Rajaratnam. In it, an FBI agent said he had learned that Rajaratnam had been warned to be careful and that Rajaratnam, in response, had said that a former employee of the Galleon Group was likely to be wearing a “wire.”

The agent said he learned from federal authorities that Rajaratnam had a ticket to fly from Kennedy International Airport to London on Friday and to return to New York from Geneva, Switzerland next Thursday.

Also charged in the scheme are Rajiv Goel, 51, of Los Altos, Calif., a director of strategic investments at Intel Capital, the investment arm of Intel Corp., Anil Kumar, 51, of Santa Clara, Calif., a director at McKinsey & Co. Inc., a global management consulting firm, and Robert Moffat, 53, of Ridgefield, Conn., senior vice president and group executive at International Business Machines Corp.’s Systems and Technology Group.

The others charged in the case were identified as Danielle Chiesi, 43, of New York City, and Mark Kurland, 60, also of New York City.

According to court papers, Chiesi worked for New Castle, the equity hedge fund group of Bear Stearns Asset Management Inc. that had assets worth about $1 billion under management. Kurland is a top executive at New Castle.

Kumar’s lawyer, Isabelle Kirshner, said of her client: “He’s distraught.” He was freed on $5 million bail, secured in part by his $2.5 million California home.

Kerry Lawrence, an attorney representing Moffat, said: “He’s shocked by the charges.”

Bail for Kurland was set at $3 million while bail for Moffat and Chiesi was set at $2 million each. Lawyers for Moffat and Chiesi said their clients will plead not guilty. The law firm representing Kurland did not immediately return a phone call for comment.

A message left at Goel’s residence was not immediately returned. He was released on bail after an appearance in California.

A criminal complaint filed in the case shows that an unidentified person involved in the insider trading scheme began cooperating and authorities obtained wiretaps of conversations between the defendants.

In one conversation about a pending deal that was described in a criminal complaint, Chiesi is quoted as saying: “I’m dead if this leaks. I really am. … and my career is over. I’ll be like Martha (expletive) Stewart.”

Stewart, the homemaking maven, was convicted in 2004 of lying to the government about the sale of her shares in a friend’s company whose stock plummeted after a negative public announcement. She served five months in prison and five months of home confinement.

Prosecutors charged those arrested Friday with conspiracy and securities fraud.

A separate criminal complaint in the case said Chiesi and Moffat conspired to engage in insider trading in the securities of International Business Machines Corp.

According to another criminal complaint in the case, Chiesi and Rajaratnam were heard on a government wiretap of a Sept. 26, 2008, phone conversation discussing whether Chiesi’s friend Moffat should move from IBM to a different technology company to aid the scheme.

“Put him in some company where we can trade well,” Rajaratnam was quoted in the court papers as saying.

The complaint said Chiesi replied: “I know, I know. I’m thinking that too. Or just keep him at IBM, you know, because this guy is giving me more information. … I’d like to keep him at IBM right now because that’s a very powerful place for him. For us, too.”

According to the court papers, Rajaratnam replied: “Only if he becomes CEO.” And Chiesi was quoted as replying: “Well, not really. I mean, come on. … you know, we nailed it.”

The criminal complaints in the case also captured what authorities said were efforts by the defendants to hide their conversations from authorities.

In one conversation, Chiesi was heard telling Rajaratnam that she was “glad that we talk on a secure line, I appreciate that,” to which Rajaratnam replied: “I never call you on my cell phone,” the complaint said. It added that Chiesi said she was “nervous” about being investigated.

The Police Department divorced itself from a federal deal Thursday that gave it access to federal criminal databases and granted two officers the power to act as immigration officials.

The department pulled out of the agreement after Immigration and Custom Enforcement pushed to expand Framingham’s immigration enforcement role.

The federal government wanted to change the agreement by requiring local police to help issue immigration detainers and assist in deportations.

Police say that could alienate an already reticent immigrant community.

“We want them to report crimes,” said Police Chief Steven Carl. “We want them to call us when they’re victims. We don’t want them to be afraid of us. If we participated in the full (program), they’d be terrified of us.”

ICE’s wish would also have stretched an already understaffed department and cost a cash-strapped town more money, Carl said yesterday.

The original memo of understanding allowed Framingham Police to tap into a database to help investigate violent crimes.

Police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany acknowledges the department has been caught in the middle of a debate on immigration enforcement. Some say the police are doing too much, others charge they’re not doing enough.

That division was reflected in the community as the news of Framingham dropping out of the federal program broke late yesterday.

Vera Dias Freitas, a local leader in the Brazilian community, said it is “wise that Framingham is pulling out of the program.”

“The reality is the existence of immigrants is everywhere,” she said. “What needs to be done is immigration reform where people are able to find a pathway to citizenship. No one wants to be living in the shadows. We should be looking for ways to support such reform.”

Town Meeting member Dan Gittelsohn is on the opposite side.

He thought the federal government should allow every town and city to investigate and deport “any illegal alien in this country.” He thought that would better protect “every legal citizen of this country.”

Gittelsohn said he is outraged existing immigration laws are not enforced more stringently.

The program was better than nothing, he said, adding, “In defense of the Framingham Police Department, financially, I understand why they’re having a hard time with this.”

Framingham entered into the program, known as 297(g), in August 2007 because of crimes that were going unreported, said Shastany.

“Oftentimes people within the Brazilian community would know of a person who was using an alias and they would be reluctant to talk to us,” said Shastany.

The original agreement allowed police to tap into databases that can shed light on violent felons, human or drug smugglers, gang members or immigration fugitives. Some such criminals use aliases, so their names do not show up in the state or FBI databases typically used by local authorities.

Shastany cited two high-profile crimes – a death stemming from a botched black market liposuction in 2006 and a fatal domestic assault that same year – where Brazilians in the community did not go straight to the police to report a crime, despite the fact that Brazilians were victims.

“This was a way for us to use the information that we would not get during an investigation,” said Shastany. “Otherwise, we had no means to find out who people are.”

The intent of the program was to help solve “crimes involving gangs, guns, violent drug-related crimes, violent domestic assault and batteries, things like that.”

The original agreement did not call for officers to conduct random street operations, investigate day laborers or question the immigration status of anyone.

Police have stopped using computers they obtained from the federal government as part of the program. ICE needs to pick them up.

Even if the department wanted to undertake an expanded role in local immigration enforcement, it does not have the resources to do so.

Carl said it would “crush us, financially.’

Framingham Police do not have the manpower for things like seeking a deportation warrant and going to federal court to testify, said Shastany.

The agreement, in which the federal government authorized two officers to act as immigration officials, unsettled local immigrants.

Shastany said police didn’t use the program “as often as people think.”

Under 287(g), police arrested three immigrants connected to a spate of robberies within the first year of its implementation.

All three had connections to street gangs and were deported to Brazil.

Shastany stressed the department will continue to cooperate with ICE whenever possible. “We’re just not immigration officers,” he said.

The Barnstable County sheriff’s office was also pulling out of the program, according to the Associated Press.

A local ILLEGAL ALIEN HISPANICman told his girlfriend she was “going to die,” as he choked and beat her for about two hours yesterday in a van he stole from the woman’s husband, a prosecutor said in court.

Luis Cervantes, 32, was arrested at 7:31 a.m. after his girlfriend escaped from the van on Edgell Road and ran bare-footed down the street covered in blood and looking for help, prosecutor Felicia Scroggins said in Framingham District Court.

The woman did not appear in court because she was still being treated for her injuries, the prosecutor said.

The woman, who was not named in court, told police that Cervantes picked her up in her husband’s van early Friday morning at a party.

He was upset because she had been drinking and punched her in the face, Scroggins said.

They pulled up to Cervantes’ 258 Edgell Road home, and the woman tried to get out of the van.

“He stopped her and said, ‘Try to get out of this vehicle and I will kill you,’ ” said Scroggins. “For the next one and a half hours he punched her and yelled at her that he was going to kill her.”

At one point, Cervantes began choking the woman, who said she almost blacked out. “While being strangled by this defendant, he told her she was going to die,” said Scroggins. “This ordeal lasted two hours and she said she couldn’t even count the number of times she was punched in the face.”

After two hours, the woman said she scratched Cervantes a couple of times and she jumped out of the van without her shoes and ran for help.

“A man called police and said he saw a woman who was covered in blood, running up the street trying to flag cars down,” said Scroggins. “She had blood and several bruises all over her face and arms. The front of her shirt was covered with blood.”

Police later stopped the van Cervantes was driving and found the woman’s shoes in it. They also discovered that Cervantes had stolen the van from the woman’s husband.

Cervantes was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping by confinement, assault and battery, threatening to commit murder and intimidating a witness.

Scroggins asked Judge Paul Healy Jr. to hold Cervantes without bail pending a hearing to determine if he is a danger to the public.

Cervantes’ lawyer, Bridgett Bradley, did not argue for bail, and Healy ordered Cervantes held at least until Thursday’s hearing.

While i do believe that immigration reform is definetely in need. Lets at least get these people registered so we can keep track of them. Ignoring a problem isnt going to solve it.

I DO want them to deport people who commit serious crimes (excuse the fact that they are illegal in the first place….just this once) basically, if you arent here to live by the rules, then dont live here….its really that simple at this point. Im sick of trying to defend the brazilian community when there are morons out there commiting STUPID crimes..

We are on the verge of a major breakthrough with the illegal immigration deterrent program E-Verify. Washington has extended E-Verify to the end of October, but that is not enough for the 10 million plus jobless American workers. The stamp of approval of E-Verify has been recognized by the hundreds of thousands, or perchance millions of citizens and legal employees whose innumerable numbers have been disenfranchised by illegal alien labor. An apparel firm was raided by ICE and 1800 workers who are illegal have been fired, unless they can be positively accepted as having the right legal status? Unbelievable! Now without further adieu, we must lambaste the politicians until they make E-Verify permanent? It should be placed on the peak list of interior enforcement tools, and everybody who gets a pay check should be verified as part of the legal workforce.

A huge number of suspected open border players, thought the courts would kill it as unconstitutional, or at least delay it? An amendment was presented by Sen. David Vitter that prevents any further delays in the implementation of the Social Security Administrations No-Match-letter program. An amendment was also offered by Sen. Jeff Sessions that requires a permanent re-authorization of the application. The usual culprits tried to table the Sen. Sessions E-Verify amendment, but the motion failed and eventually passed. We have dubious decision makers in DC, who are not looking-out for the man/women in the street? This became very blatantly obvious in the stimulus bill, when no language omitted illegal workers from gaining at least 300.000 jobs in construction and other industries. Why are we not penalizing employers and landlords who allow illegal aliens to live in their houses/apartments and / or work for them? I think we’re missing part of the issue. They had an agreement and ICE decided that instead of doing their job themselves they would have the FPD do it for them. Working with the police is one thing. Having the police do your job for you because you don’t have enough employees is something else. Their main focus is to keep the streets safe. I think that the FPD did a better job than ICE and ICE just figured why not sit back and let FPD do the job since they do it so well. ICE is known for their once in a while stings so that people think they are working. I think it’s too bad that this happened but I completely 100% blame ICE . An agreement should not be taken lightly. If there is a crime and a witness doesn’t have a green card they will not talk to the police and that’s that. That does not keep the streets safe it makes it worse. I believe the FPD are doing the responsible thing by not taking over ICE’s job responsibilities.

The police chief should resign and all the other cowardly police personal that agree with him. These people have sworn to uphold the Constitution and now have cowardly let the wolves take over the hen house. Vera Dias Fretas talks about people being in the shadows, really? Seems to me the are making some really good headlines for murder and other criminal activities now.

These actions by the police chief warrant the town to have a town meeting to discuss the PEOPLES viewpoint on this and not the viewpoint of a cowardly police chief. Chief Carl should read Sheriff Joe Apaio’s book called Joe’s Law.
That is a real law enforcement officer, a real MAN who respects what this country stands for. Time for Pam Richardson and our Selectmen to get us all together to discuss this blunder and cowardice of our police chief and get some policemen on the force who really respect this country and what it stands for.

I think is’t also time for the people to raise up with signs and protest the police department for this act of treason. We have lost control of our town and have given it to the illegal immigrants who now will see this as an act of cowradice and do more crimes upon their own people and laugh at Framingham as a town full of cowards and bozo’s.

I lived in Framingham from 1960 to 1997. In 1997, my wife and I decided to move out of Framingham. Blight was beginning to appear. We were lucky. We made a killing on our house. It’s the BEST decision we ever made. The town of Framingham spends years and years talking about the tracks in downtown, overpass, underpass, while the entire downtown area rots away. I moved to Sudbury. I use to park at the commuter station downtown as I work in Boston. Now I drive a little longer and park in West Natick so I dont have to step over the drunks and homeless at 6:30 in the morning.

Framingham was a nice town when I was growing up. I have lots of good memories. No oversight, no management–a run away train. And now, a police chief who just doesnt give a F*k about illegals and has told the Feds to take a hike. Nice……………….

Third: With all due respect to Chief Carl ,who does a great job in his leadership role as Chief of Police, he should move to and live in Framingham where he is the Chief of Police.
Fourth: A large part of the crime problem in Framingham is due to the apartment halfway houses in downtown Framingham and unfortunately, the Salvation Army charity. The charity is overburdened with non-locals that haunt the facility and at times some of them create crimes in town potentially in tandem with the resident tennants at the halfway house apartments and/or guests.
Fifth: Framingham is a terrific town to live in. We have an accredited state college, we have a strong historic district and society, we have a reknowned museum, we have malls , parks, gardens, green spaces and a Town Manager that has suppported our town and has made a strong positive difference.

Very sensible move. 287g is a boondoggle, a real detriment to enforcement of local law & order. Good riddance. If a large percentage of the population is scared of reporting crimes to the police, then crime will flourish.

There is no group of people in the world — ethnic, religious, occupational, whatever — that’s moron-free. As omglykenoway says, there are some objectionable people in the immigrant community. Guess what? Same’s true for those of us who were born here, and they’re hanging out warts and all on this comment line.

W. LaBarge is right, the anti-immigrant movement is, I’d say more than ‘tinged’ with racism and hatred. (Yes, Rizolis, your ears are burning …) And I want to assure him that some of us are trying really hard to get the laws put on a more rational basis. I don’t favor fully-open borders any more than I favor absence of police. But I’m sure that if good, hardworking people who’d exhausted all their alternatives at home and really wanted to come to the US had a snowball’s chance of doing so legally, they’d jump at it. Right now they don’t, and that’s part of why so many folks come outside the law.

I also want to say that I get more than a little sick and tired of the ‘citizens vs. illegals’ dichotomy. ‘Illegal’ as a noun is a term of abuse, and in my opinion does not belong on the web site of a respectable paper.
You also need to deal with the fact that people can be legally present in the US on something between 20 and 30 different kinds of visas, or as Legal Permanent Residents. There is no way to arrive here and become an instant citizen. You have to spend a minimum of 3-5 years as an LPR.

I live — as do most people in the immigrant community — in a mixed-status household. There are three of us, all legally present, all related. Each one of us has a different status; if we invite some of my in-laws to dinner we can easily add 2 or 3 more. This means that we have, and have to carry, different documents, have different access to medical care, different conditions for travel outside the US. The immigration system complicates our lives enormously. And we have it easy compared to the folks without documents.

Treating this situation with capslock diatribes, or with Brittanicus-type boilerplate (B, when are you going to read an article before you hit the dratted ‘paste’ key??? Do you think you’re excused because you’re in Indiana?) really doesn’t help anyone.

It makes both economic sense and is better for the community when local police and jails stay separated from federal immigration. We will all be less safe when people from our communities, including crime victims or victims of domestic violence, are afraid to cooperate with police, because of immigration consequences. And weighing down the police with administrative checks and paperwork distracts from their real jobs. The job of immigration law should be left to federal immigration agents whose job it is. I am an immigrant who came here on H1B visa, worked my *** of for my citizenship and I would first among those who would swipe Framingham clean, board all illegals on a ship and sail them wherever they came from. We should thank Chief Steven Carl for protecting us, and appreciate the Framingham police officers who have been stabbed and shot at, by the real criminals in our Town. Instead of hating immigrants (who have always come to America to escape oppression and poverty in their countries of birth), let us appreciate the police for putting themselves in the line of fire to protect us. I dont see the bloggers that hate immigrants hating the real violent criminals, who are legal citizens, who injure and try to kill the police who are working every day to protect us. Chief Carl is a professional who has risen through the ranks. I hope he continues to pay attention to the need to protect the community from violent criminals, and not pay attention to the anonymous bloggers who have never had to put on a police uniform and go out everyday and put themselves in the line of fire. And it is damn simple to stop all illegal immigration. No free schools for their kids, no free medical attention in hospitals, no credit cards, no bank accounts, if they cannot show US passport – call on ‘la migra’ and get them into jail and out of here!

Illegals thrive only in areas where they can feed from a giving hand, hand that takes away from me and my children and gives to them. It is just moronic to keep things going like this. Feds can enforce set of rules to stop all that non-sense overnight, just as they can bite my *** immediately if I decide to cheat on my taxes. It is ridiculous to assume that they have no merits to check on every dime that goes via official payroll, my wife works in accounting so she knows perfectly how it works and how local companies use other companies that supply them with ‘contractors’. Framingham should keep the program – Illegals take our jobs, spaces in our school (two teachers in that class, compared to one teacher for many others), driving with no reg or license. Illegals should not be able to come to Framingham take our money, (then when they make enough, take it all back to their homeland) and use all our town resources and not pay any taxes. There is one step Framingham can take that can help relieve some of the issues cited by many of the above bloggers. Town Meeting is the sole funding authority in Framingham, and this legislative body is the only arm of the local government to authorize spending. Unfortunately, the state culture permits people who are employed by the schools and municipal administration to vote on their own salaries and generous benefits. This conflict of interest could provide a friendly environment for deals, which could or does permit the old-boy custom of ‘screw you, hooray for me’

Nevertheless, if Town Meeting takes its duties and responsibilities seriously, it can refuse to fund those departments that ignore the will and/or outrage of taxpayer residents. It can act on public safety since it has a standing committee which provides oversight and make recommendations to Town Meeting. And while there is a national review of immigration underway, or supposedly underway, Framingham can set priorities in public safety and work with ICE to deport the criminal elements in Framingham that abuses and preys on all residents.

FPD was one of the first police departments to accept the ICE program. This tells me that they are willing to attempt to resolve the illegal alien issue in Framingham. The problem is that they should be able to expect ICE to step in and do their job as well. Miford has a high number of illegals as well. They do not partake in this program as far as I know. Obviously this didn’t work. Has anyone tried blaming ICE and not the FPD who fairly and unduly agreed to be one of the first departments in this state to work with this program? I think that the blame should be accurately placed on ICE. ICE should be rounding up the illegals and taking them on a free ride home. The illegals should not be showing up at the police station asking for a ride home because they are afraid the winter will be too cold and they might freeze to death. ICE needs to set up shop in Framingham and get this under control. They should be able to request police assistance if and when necessary but the police are not there to do the job for them and that’s my opinion.

Two mexicans a 60 year old woman and her 4 month old anchor baby, were killed and three other family members injured Sunday morning when the car in which they were riding crashed along I-84 approximately 25 miles east of Baker, Oregon.

On September 27, 2009 at approximately 6:25 AM a 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Raul MENDOZA-LOPEZ, age 25 of Nampa, Idaho was eastbound on I-84 near milepost 331. Four other occupants were also riding in the Explorer. Riding in the right front passenger seat was Juana LOPEZ-LOPEZ, age 60 of Nampa, Idaho. Hahir Emmanuel MENDOZA-LOPEZ, age 4 was seated in a child booster seat in the left rear passenger seat. Seated next to him in the rear center passenger seat was his mother Mireya LOPEZ, age 23. Seated in the right rear passenger seat utilizing a rear facing infant seat was Jonathan MENDOZA-LOPEZ, age 4 months. All occupants of the vehicle were members of the same imediate family with the exception of Juana LOPEZ-LOPEZ who was the grandmother.

As the Ford Explorer was eastbound it drifted to the left onto the gravel shoulder of the center median. Raul MENDOZA-LOPEZ attempted to steer the Explorer back onto the roadway, overcorrected and drove back across both eastbound lanes. The Explorer drove off the south shoulder of I-84, rolled several times down an embankment and came to a rest approximately 50 feet from the freeway.

Juana LOPEZ-LOPEZ, who had been wearing a seatbelt died at the scene of the crash. Jonathan MENDOZA-LOPEZ was ejected from the vehicle and also died at the scene of the crash. While Jonathan MENDOZA-LOPEZ had been riding in an infant seat, it appears that the seat may not have been properly installed. Raul and Hahir Emmanuel MENDOZA-LOPEZ, who were both using safety restraints, were transported by the Baker City Fire Department to Saint Elizabeth hospital in Baker City for treatment of non life threatening injuries. Mireya LOPEZ, who also had been wearing a safety belt, was transported via Life Flight to Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho where she was treated for injuries and later released.

Eastbound lanes of I-84 were partially blocked for approximately 6 hours while emergency crews responded to and investigated the crash.

Troopers from the Oregon State Police (OSP) Baker City Worksite and a Crash Reconstructionist from the OSP Ontario Area Command are continuing the investigation into the crash. OSP was assisted at the scene by The Huntington Fire Department, Baker County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Following a two month long investigation by the Salem Police Department, The Oregon Department of Justice, and the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services;Mexican Julian Ruiz, 38 years of age, of Keizer, was arrested about 9:00 this morning by Salem Police Department detectives at River Rd. and Brooklake Rd. NE.

Mexican National Ruiz had been a mortgage loan originator at America One Finance, which has since gone out of business. In 2006, he is alleged to have financed a home in the 900 block of Camelot Dr S for $376,000 using the stolen personal information of a customer. That residence fell into foreclosure in 2007.

In 2008,Mexican Ruiz again allegedly stole another customer’s personal information to finance a home in the 3700 block of Illahe Hill Rd S for $417,000. This home has also since fallen into foreclosure.

Mexican Ruiz was lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility charged with Mortgage Fraud, Aggravated Identity Theft, Aggravated Theft I by Deception, Forgery I, and Issuing a False Financial Statement.

Summary of Event:
Deputies arrested a man who accosted a 17-year-old girl on a Tri-Met bus and then followed her to her house and assaulted her. The girl was not seriously injured and the man has been booked into the Washington County Jail.Details of Event:
On Monday, August 17, 2009, at about 7:00 p.m., a 17-year-old girl was riding the number 67 bus toward PCC Rock Creek. While on the bus,Rodolfo Claudio Marquez a man later identified as 23-year-old -, starting flirting with her. She did not return the flirtation and tried to ignore him. Mr. Claudio-Marquez continued and the girl felt uncomfortable by his advances.

When the girl got off the bus at NW Springville Road and NW 173rd Avenue, Mr. Claudio-Marquez also got off and started to follow her. She started to walk south on SW 173rd Avenue into a residential area toward her house. Mr. Claudio-Marquez continued to follow her and talk to her. She told him to leave her alone, but he refused and offered to take her to buy alcohol.

The girl arrived at her house and told Mr. Claudio-Marquez to leave, instead he grabbed her roughly around the waist and pulled her toward him. Mr. Claudio-Marquez tried to kiss the girl, but she pushed him away. Mr. Claudio-Marquez came back at her and punched her in the face with a closed fist. The girl ran into her house and told him she was calling the police, Mr. Claudio-Marquez left the area.

The girl called her father who came directly home. She gave him a description of the suspect and her father was able to locate him near the bus stop at NW 173rd Ave. and NW Springville Rd. Her father called 911 and Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area. The father returned home to be with his daughter and when deputies arrived Mr. Claudio-Marquez was not at the bus stop. After searching the area, deputies were able to locate Mr. Claudio-Marquez on the PCC campus near the sports complex. He perfectly matched the description that was given by the victim. The victim later confirmed that Mr. Claudio-Marquez was the same man who had assaulted her.

Mr. Claudio-Marquez was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail where he was booked on charges of Assault IV, Harassment, and Sex Abuse III. He is also being held on a probation violation for a previous Methamphetamine charge.

Here is the explanation and justification for saying that the federal government brings in 1.5 million new foreign workers each year (125,000 a month) to take U.S. jobs while Americans lose theirs. (This is a key number in our national TV ad campaign.)

For months, the open-borders blogosphere has insisted that NumbersUSA is telling tall tales when we talk about these numbers. Most of the commentators and open-borders politicians even claim that we have no source for our information.

So, once again, let us lay out the federal government’s own data.

All the data in this blog represent the most recent 12 months for which government data are available.

At NumbersUSA, we always go with well-sourced, mainstream numbers, even though there may be credible arguments for numbers that make our case even better. As you will see, we have been going with a rather moderate number to describe the insanity of a federal government importing foreign workers to take a dwindling number of jobs while increasing numbers of Americans lose their jobs.

NEW PERMANENT & TEMPORARY WORK PERMITS — 160,000 PER MONTH

That is the number of PERMANENT work permits given in the form of green cards to working-age immigrants over the 12-month period.

None of these people has ever gotten a green card before.

These green cards are the most insidious aspect. Every year, our federal government hands out PERMANENT access to U.S. jobs to nearly a million foreign adults through our legal immigration system. In 2008 while our economy was suffering the worst collapse since the Great Depression, our government continued to flood the occupations of beleaguered U.S. workers at this incredible pace.

Lots of people in think tanks that ought to know better have thrown ridiculous accusations at us, such as claiming that the feds can’t possibly have given 951,000 green cards to immigrant workers since the law only allows greencards to 140,000 skilled and 5,000 unskilled workers per year.

This is the kind of deception that the high-immigration people often use. Most immigrants don’t come on employment visas but through lottery, family, refugee and chain migration categories. What, these adults don’t take jobs, they just go on welfare?

In fact, all immigrants (employment-based or otherwise) enter the job market at even higher rates than American natives. And that’s a big problem when there are 951,000 of them a year during a Jobs Depression.

That is the number of new TEMPORARY work permits given to foreign workers who were getting them for the FIRST time during the most recent reported 12 months.

Many, many more foreign workers were getting work permit renewals during the 12 months, which also didn’t make any sense. But because we are moderate in the way we state our numbers, we haven’t been counting the renewals. We just count the new people getting the temporary permits.

That is the total number of separate foreign citizens who were either getting a new temporary work permit or getting a permanent green card.

Our federal government had the choice to not bring in a single one of these competing workers.

Instead, it gave out nearly 1.9 million new work permits to 1.9 million separate foreign workers.

1.5 million a year

This somewhat smaller number counts how many of the 1.9 million had not already been working in the United States.

The U.S. Office of Immigration Statistics reports that 57.9% of adult green card recipients were already working in the U.S. The feds had the choice not to give them permanent access to U.S. jobs but did, to the detriment of U.S. workers. Nonetheless, most of them are not technically “new recipients of foreign-worker visas.”

But about 100,000 to 250,000 of them were new recipients because they were working here illegally and had not previously had a work permit.

The Center for Immigration Studies prepared a very helpful chart based on the government data. Just click on the image of it for an enlarged version that you can read.

The chart shows how many new temporary workers came for 14 different temporary work visa categories.

It then shows the government’s figure of 396,265 working-age green card recipients who had not previously been living in the U.S.

And it estimates that an additional 100,000 to 250,000 of the working-age green card recipients had been in the U.S. illegally but had never previously had a work permit.

The end result is a range between 1,443,265 and 1,593,605 who were new foreign workers with the legal right to take a U.S. job.

A nice round, medium number is 1.5 million which — as the above stats and math show — is a highly-sourced, credible approximation of the magnitude of damage the federal immigration programs are doing to unemployed Americans.

125,000 a month

1.5 million divided by 12 gives you 125,000 a month.

Using the most recent 12-month statistics in every category of available government data (primarily 2008), that is how many foreign workers the feds have given first-time work visas to — EACH MONTH.

I have seen little effort to reduce this foreign-worker importation.

And I have seen considerable effort by Congress and the Administration to keep the importation as high as possible while talking about the need to increase it.

You should feel free to use the 160,000-a-month figure for the separate new green cards and new temporary work permits given. Just be sure that you know that about 35,000 a month are green cards to foreign workers who already were here on temporary permits.

NumbersUSA is using the more-conservatively-stated 125,000-a-month figure for “new foreign workers.”

Will the high-immigration think tanks and advocacy groups ever admit to these facts? Or will they continue to try to convince their constituents that our immigration policies only bring in a handful of workers?

Go sit in court and see how these prople are slapped on the wrist for DUI and ask yourself “Where is the deterrence. This crime is happening in the courtroom. Police are arresting them and watching as judges let them out for a fraction of the penaltity they give you. I have been there and seen it. Kentucky had a female judge that got fed up with anonymous people using different names each week in court and jailed fifteen illegals until they identified themselves. The apeal court lambasted her and set them free. We need a new judiciary that isn’t afraid of Bush/Obama. They all think that they are going to get federal appointments if they rule politically.

The American Arrested was trying to point out how much Rubbish Mexicans have created in the area. Arlo Guthrie and Alice’s Restaurant in the 1960’s dealt with the same overreaction by police.

The Police found the writing “disturbing” by the writing on the Mattress, yet they are never disturbed by all the rapes, car crashes, drug dealers, mexican meth breeders . Nope crime by Mexican illegals doesn’t bother them a bit,just free speech by Americans who are paying for all those invaders.

Instead of those in government focusing on how much destruction the invasion of Mexicans have cost American Citizens, they came down heavy on one American.

A mattress – big deal compared to all the robberies, rapes, anchor babies, drug dealers and overcrowding that Mexicans have brought to Oregon.

News Release

On Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:08 a.m. a witness reported to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, observing a male subject ‘discarding a soiled mattress’ onto the highway overpass located on SW 65th, above Highway 1-205 (20590 SW 65th / propped against a guard rail).

This watchful witness provided a suspect and suspect vehicle description; which included the suspect vehicle license plate number. Most disturbing was what the witness reported to be emblazoned with spray paint on this discarded mattress – “Mexican Swine Flu Mattress”.

A Clackamas County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy soon met with a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy, with respect to the close jurisdictional boundaries and verified the crime actually occurred in Clackamas County. In addition, it was also discovered the registered owner of the suspect vehicle address was identified to possess a Washington County address – located within close proximity to the crime scene.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the address of the registered owner of the witness described suspect vehicle. This suspect vehicle was soon discovered at the residence and determined to be a: 1981, Toyota, Pick-up truck, yellow in color.

The registered owner of this vehicle is the suspect; who is identified as: Gerhard Franz Gebert, age 52; who resides at 7170 SW Robbins Road, in Tualatin (Washington County).

The investigating Clackamas County Sheriff’s Deputy interviewed Gerhard Franz Gebert, who admitted to inscribing “Mexican Swine Flu Mattress” and discarding this soiled mattress onto the overpass location.

Gebert indicated that this particular mattress had been discarded on his neighbor’s property for over a month, and felt it would be funny to inscribe “Mexican Swine Flu Mattress” while discarding the mattress along the roadway. Gebert indicated he feels the Hispanic Community is partially responsible for littering in the area and wanted to bring this to their attention. (Photos Attached)

This song is called Alice’s Restaurant, and it’s about Alice, and the restaurant, but Alice’s Restaurant is not the name of the restaurant, that’s just the name of the song, and that’s why I called the song Alice’s Restaurant. You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant Walk right in it’s around the back Just a half a mile from the railroad track You can get anything you want at Alice’s Restaurant Now it all started two Thanksgivings ago, was on – two years ago on Thanksgiving, when my friend and I went up to visit Alice at the restaurant, but Alice doesn’t live in the restaurant, she lives in the church nearby the restaurant, in the bell-tower, with her husband Ray and Fasha the dog. And livin’ in the bell tower like that, they got a lot of room downstairs where the pews used to be in. Havin’ all that room, seein’ as how they took out all the pews, they decided that they didn’t have to take out their garbage for a long time. We got up there, we found all the garbage in there, and we decided it’d be a friendly gesture for us to take the garbage down to the city dump. So we took the half a ton of garbage, put it in the back of a red VW microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the city dump. Well we got there and there was a big sign and a chain across across the dump saying, “Closed on Thanksgiving.” And we had never heard of a dump closed on Thanksgiving before, and with tears in our eyes we drove off into the sunset looking for another place to put the garbage. We didn’t find one. Until we came to a side road, and off the side of the side road there was another fifteen foot cliff and at the bottom of the cliff there was another pile of garbage. And we decided that one big pile is better than two little piles, and rather than bring that one up we decided to throw our’s down. That’s what we did, and drove back to the church, had a thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat, went to sleep and didn’t get up until the next morning, when we got a phone call from officer Obie. He said, “Kid, we found your name on an envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it.” And I said, “Yes, sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope under that garbage.” After speaking to Obie for about fourty-five minutes on the telephone we finally arrived at the truth of the matter and said that we had to go down and pick up the garbage, and also had to go down and speak to him at the police officer’s station. So we got in the red VW microbus with the shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed on toward the police officer’s station. Now friends, there was only one or two things that Obie coulda done at the police station, and the first was he could have given us a medal for being so brave and honest on the telephone, which wasn’t very likely, and we didn’t expect it, and the other thing was he could have bawled us out and told us never to be see driving garbage around the vicinity again, which is what we expected, but when we got to the police officer’s station there was a third possibility that we hadn’t even counted upon, and we was both immediately arrested. Handcuffed. And I said “Obie, I don’t think I can pick up the garbage with these handcuffs on.” He said, “Shut up, kid. Get in the back of the patrol car.” And that’s what we did, sat in the back of the patrol car and drove to the quote Scene of the Crime unquote. I want tell you about the town of Stockbridge, Massachusets, where this happened here, they got three stop signs, two police officers, and one police car, but when we got to the Scene of the Crime there was five police officers and three police cars, being the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everybody wanted to get in the newspaper story about it. And they was using up all kinds of cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer’s station. They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and they took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach, the getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that’s not to mention the aerial photography. After the ordeal, we went back to the jail. Obie said he was going to put us in the cell. Said, “Kid, I’m going to put you in the cell, I want your wallet and your belt.” And I said, “Obie, I can understand you wanting my wallet so I don’t have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you want my belt for?” And he said, “Kid, we don’t want any hangings.” I said, “Obie, did you think I was going to hang myself for littering?” Obie said he was making sure, and friends Obie was, cause he took out the toilet seat so I couldn’t hit myself over the head and drown, and he took out the toilet paper so I couldn’t bend the bars roll out the – roll the toilet paper out the window, slide down the roll and have an escape. Obie was making sure, and it was about four or five hours later that Alice (remember Alice? It’s a song about Alice), Alice came by and with a few nasty words to Obie on the side, bailed us out of jail, and we went back to the church, had a another thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat, and didn’t get up until the next morning, when we all had to go to court. We walked in, sat down, Obie came in with the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one, sat down. Man came in said, “All rise.” We all stood up, and Obie stood up with the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures, and the judge walked in sat down with a seeing eye dog, and he sat down, we sat down. Obie looked at the seeing eye dog, and then at the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one, and looked at the seeing eye dog. And then at twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and began to cry, ’cause Obie came to the realization that it was a typical case of American blind justice, and there wasn’t nothing he could do about it, and the judge wasn’t going to look at the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. The date you give, 2004, for establishment of the E-Verify program, is questionable. Here is an accurate history of the E-Verify program, taken from the DHS website: An employment verification requirement was part of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Ten years later, Congress authorized the INS to test several pilot projects to assist compliance. I recently voted for the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act that extends E-Verify for another 6 months,

On April 2, 2009, a top CIS official testified to Congress that of all the cases verified through E-Verify, only 3.9% resulted in a mismatch. Of that 3.9%, 0.4 percent of queries were those who were issued a Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC) and successfully contested the case. The remaining 3.5% found not work authorized either did not contest the TNC, were unsuccessful in contesting or were found unauthorized to work at the secondary verification stage.

Rosemary Jenks, the lawyer who heads up NumbersUSA’s Capitol Hill Team, has repeatedly and publicly issued a challenge to the media and open-borders advocates to produce even one example of an American losing a job because the E-Verify system wrongly ordered it.

If it turned out that of millions of transactions a year, there were 10 or 20 mistakes, we would be concerned but also find that to be an understandably tiny problem.

But, to date, opponents have NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND an example of even ONE AMERICAN who lost a job due to problems with E-Verify.

For example, almost 13 percent of workers that Intel Corporation ran through E-Verify in 2008 could not be initially confirmed.

You don’t say how long it took to clear up any problems with the 13 percent; maybe it took only a day or two. That could be only a minor inconvenience. Maybe a good part of the 13% actually were not work-authorized. Anyhow, the Intel case of 2008 does not necessarily reflect the efficiency of E-Verify in March 2009 when you voted against a 5-year extension.

For that reason, during debate on the 2009 omnibus, I voted against an amendment that would have extended the E-Verify program for another 6 years because it would have closed off any opportunity to listen to Oregon’s businesses on how to fix the problems.

The Amendment would NOT have closed off any opportunity to listen to Oregon’s businesses about their experiences with E-Verify. The Program is continually working to improve efficiency; it is not frozen into a unchangeable pattern. It’s ridiculous to pretend that. Your statement here is preposterous.

However, I want to be clear that the omnibus bill I voted for keeps E-Verify in place for another 6 months, and gives Congress time to consider improvements to the program before enacting a long-term extension.

Again, by restricting E-Verify to a life-line of only 6 months, Congress damaged this excellent and much-needed program by implying that it lacks credibility, hurting its reputation, demoralizing the E-Verify staff, and discouraging employers from using E-Verify. The program had been growing extremely rapidly on a purely voluntary basis. As of April 2, when the CIS official testified to Congress, he reported that over 117,000 employers were enrolled and that an average of 1,000 more had been enrolling each week.

Please know that I support E-Verify, and that I will continue to oppose attempts to end this program.

Thank you for this promise to oppose attempts to end E-Verify. We hope you also intend to vote for adequate funding and against any crippling amendments restricting E-Verify’s operation. We hope you will not agree to tie passage of amnesty to approval of E-Verify’s extension. The two subjects are separate and should not be considered together in any kind of “comprehensive” package.

WCSO Case # 09-507259Summary of Event:
Early this morning Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the Azteca Restaurant in Beaverton on a fight involving Trashy mexicans who are illegal patrons and security. Seven Mexican gangster trash punks people were arrested and two were taken to area hospitals. ( you paid for their medical treatment)Details of Event:
On Sunday, May 03, 2009, at 2:19 a.m., Washington County Deputies and Beaverton Police responded to the Azteca restaurant, located at 10505 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, on a report of a large group of people fighting.Sheriff’s Deputies were first to arrive on scene and found that the fight was continuing inside the bar. Upwards of 100 people were attempting to exit the bar and security had used pepper spray on the people who were fighting. Seven Sheriff’s Deputies and five Beaverton Police were quickly able to get the fight broken up and under control.Deputies investigated the incident and determined that the fight started when a woman who was singing karaoke was insulted and then slapped on her buttocks by another patron. The woman’s husband took issue with the unwanted contact and confronted the man, 29-year-old Yemby Gomez from Beaverton, who slapped her.

A fight broke out involving many of the patrons. Beer bottles and chairs were being thrown and used as weapons. Security at the bar was trying to break up the fight and used pepper spray on some of the patrons.

After the investigation was completed deputies were able to identify seven people who were involved in the fight. Five of them were arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail on charges of Riot and Disorderly Conduct II. They were 21-year-old Alexis Moreno-Bello from Tualatin, 22-year-old Miguel Hernandez-Vasquez from Lake Oswego, 22-year-old Javier Abarca-Hernandez from Tigard, 21-year-old Wilson Zambrano-Rivas from Beaverton, and 20-year-old Juan Zambrano-Rivas from Beaverton.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission is investigating Azteca for serving underage patrons.

HILLSBORO, Ore. — A judge has sentenced a Beaverton landlord to a month and a half in jail for sexually abusing a former tenant who was mentally ill.

Moji Momeni, 49, a Beaverton apartment owner charged with sex abuse.

Fifty-year-old Moji Momeni has no prior convictions. He is listed as the owner of more than 15 properties in Beaverton.

Momeni was convicted earlier this month of three counts of sexual abuse, after the victim testified that he forced her to perform a sex act in exchange for not paying her 575 dollars in rent.

Three former tenants, all women, testified during the two-day bench trial that Momeni made inappropriate comments to them and touched them in ways that made them uncomfortable.

None of those instances resulted in criminal charges.

Four people testified on Momeni’s behalf, including two tenants who said he was kind and fair.

Momeni was also sentenced to five years of probation and must register as a sex offender.

Momeni has described the incident with the woman as a misunderstanding, and says he should not have allowed it to happen.

Jury awards Beaverton woman $855,000 from former landlord

A Washington County jury has decided that a Beaverton woman should be paid $855,000 by her former landlord after he forced her to perform a sex act with him in exchange for back rent.

The verdict against Moji Momeni and his company, CJR Inc., which owns 15 apartment buildings, mainly in Beaverton, was handed down Friday by a Washington County Circuit Court jury. The defendant’s name is being withheld by The Oregonian because of the nature of the allegations.

She sought, and was awarded, $55,000 in economic damages to reimburse her for past and future expenses. She sought $5 million each for non-economic and punitive damages. The jury awarded her $280,000 for non-economic damages – to compensate her pain and suffering – and $520,000 in punitive damages to punish Momeni for his behavior.

The Circuit Court decision follows a criminal conviction last October. Momeni, 51, was convicted of three counts of third-degree sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail and was designated a sexual offender.

The civil suit arose from the same incident. On Dec. 17, 2005, the victim went to Momeni’s Beaverton office at 12190 S.W. Longhorn Lane to discuss $575 she owed in back rent. Momeni forced the woman, a single mother who suffered bipolar disorder, to perform oral sex to eradicate the debt.

R-O-P-E Shows How to Strangle Grassroots Influence — Warmup for Amnesty Passage?

We now have seen the ROPE swing into action and show its style. The implications for immigration policy are, frankly, terrifying.

R-O-P-E is the Reid-Obama-Pelosi-Emanuel power bloc that called the shots on much of the Stimulus Bill with very little say from anybody else in the end. ROPE decided that illegal aliens would be welcomed to Stimulus jobs and made sure that the 533 Members of Congress never got a chance to truly weigh in — or be held accountable.

Majority Power in the 1980s

I remember being a congressional correspondent during the 1980s after Democrats had controlled the U.S. House of Representatives for three decades. The abuse of power was pretty incredible. The Republican Members were allowed only tiny amounts of influence as the Democratic leadership allowed it.

Majority Power in the 1990s

Republicans took control of the House in the 1994 elections, partly by promising the American people that they would allow everybody’s Representative to have some influence. The Republicans promised to run the House in a manner fair to everybody.

But within a few years, Republicans began imitating the abuse they had campaigned against. There are differences of opinion on the matter, but I believe that near the end of their reign in the House, the Republicans were more abusive of their power than the Democrats had been.

Now the Democrats have taken back control, partly by promising the American people that they would end the abuses of the Republicans and restore fairness to the proceedings of the House so that every Congressional District’s representative would have a chance to have influence.

HOW R-O-P-E MAY STRANGLE US

If the last two weeks are any indication, I think we will have to say that the ROPE team is the most dictatorial of all.

If the ROPE team is going to try to rule with a disciplined near-unanimity of its own Party, the American people are going to have almost no chance to improve our immigration policies and a very scary chance of a giant amnesty passing later this year.

Here is what the ROPE showed us in stripping the Stimulus Bill of E-Verify positions:

When the idea first came up of using E-Verify to keep illegal aliens out of the Stimulus jobs, ROPE realized that to oppose it in the House Appropriations Committee would look bad in public. So, ROPE allowed the restriction to go into the House bill on a voice vote, promising their open-borders friends that they would get it out in the Conference negotiating committee.
If the Senate had passed the same E-Verify provision, it might have been very difficult for the Conference committee to get rid of it. I don’t think there was any way that 41% of Senators would have openly voted to allow illegal aliens to get Stimulus jobs. So, ROPE refused to allow Senators to vote on the E-Verify amendment.
Despite talk of making the Conference negotiations transparent and open to the public, ROPE knew that if citizens saw the 10 Conference negotiators turning down E-Verify there would be a backlash. So, ROPE decided the shape of the final Stimulus Bill behind closed doors, just among themselves and presented the whole thing as a take-or-leave-it proposition to the Conference committee. Since ROPE had removed E-Verify in secret, the public had no chance to see what each of the negotiators might have done if they had made the decision themselves.
In the end, the Stimulus Bill was passed so that illegal aliens have the same access to Stimulus jobs as they do to all other jobs now — which is pretty open access. But except for the four members of the ROPE team, no other Member of Congress can easily be held accountable for passing such a huge pro-illegal-immigration bill.

As you can see, this process is meant to minimize the ability of individual citizens to hold anybody accountable and to exercise any influence.

WHAT CONSTITUTES FAIRNESS?

Perhaps the two most important things that a majority Party can provide to ensure that individual Americans have a chance for a voice in the proceedings of Congress are these:

the ability of all Members to offer amendments
public recording of roll call votes

It was the lack of these two opportunities time after time under the previous Republican regime that enraged Democrats who eventually were able to convince the public of the wrongness of that kind of power stranglehold. Every American’s representative in Congress ought to have the chance to offer amendments. Even if those amendments are killed in a public vote, citizens backing the amendments can feel their voice was at least heard and they can know which Members agree or disagree.

Especially in the handling of E-Verify the last two weeks, the ROPE regime has shown an ugly hand in denying immigration amendments or public votes.

All of us will have to do all we can to expose this hand for its anti-democratic meaning and cause ROPE to believe that continuing the stranglehold may be counter-productive. Otherwise, we can expect the passage of amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens this fall.

Robbery in the Mexican suburb of Woodburn oregon or one week of crime by mexicans

Bet everyone five tacos robbery was by a mexican national who needed cash.

Woodburn, Oregon, everyone agrees, has been taken over by Mexicans in the last 30 years, due to migrant workers who were amnestied and anchor babies and newer illegal aliens. The police have to speak spanish and the Mayor answers to the Mexican Consulate. Elitist Open Borders Professors at local Universities are studying the problem of “whiteness” in Woodburn. This is where white people who are displaced by the invasion of mexicans are upset, are considered to implicitly racist for preferring non-mexicans.

Sheriff’s Office investigates Burglary in Woodburn area

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred sometime between 12-16-08 and 12-25-08 in the 2400 block of Molalla Road in Woodburn. The victim indicates on 12-26-08, he returned after being out of town and discovered someone had broken into his shop as well as over 17 vehicles that were on his property. He indicated the suspects siphoned gas out of the vehicles and even took the batteries out of some of them. From the large amount and size of items stolen the owner reported the burglaries most likely occurred over a period of time and required multiple entries onto the property and shop. He said the thieves had enough time to remove a coffee maker out of his motor home, take it into the shop and make coffee for themselves.There were well over 360 items stolen from the shop and property on Molalla Road with an estimated value of between $15,000 and $20,000. This doesn’t include two vehicles and a motorcycle that were also stolen from the property. A few of the items stolen were; A Nitrous Oxide System, Blue Clarke welder, a red table model solvent tank, red/black Honda generator, 1980 black Honda CB 650 Custom motorcycle, Vintage 70’s Octave 37 note Keyboard (photo included) and a Hot Wheels/Matchbox car collection in a wood cabinet with a glass door.There were two vehicles seen on the property on Christmas Day that are of interest; a red Volkswagen Jetta and a gold colored Ford pickup that may have a broken taillight. Anyone with information regarding either of these vehicles, any of the stolen property or the suspects, are asked to contact Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Crofts at (503) 576-7250.The victim in this case is offering a $1000 reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible. He is asking if anyone has information regarding any of his property they contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office

Mexicans African Roots – denied due to Mexican Racism

over and over again I see Mexican Males – illegal aliens , who dont just look Indian and european. With Smashed noses and dark skin and Asian eyes, they look African and maybe Asian too, but Mexicans deny their African Slave ancestry out of racism. There were more African slaves then white skinned Spanish in Mexico.Frankly, I have never seen such ugly, orc-like males in my life. Even Black Americans are better looking then Mexicans,because at least they aren’t short.

Racism in Latin America has always been more insidious than in the U.S.. The Latin method is to allow any body with a hint of white blood to call themselves white. Fat lot of good it does them, though. By letting mixed race people call themselves “white,” the Latin system tricks mestizos and mulattos into imagining the game isn’t rigged against them personally – just against those poor bastards who happen to be a little darker than they are.”

Mexico’s Forgotten African Roots

The African ancestry of many of what we know as Latinos is fairly well known. Slaves were taken from different parts of Africa and brought to the “New World,” which could mean they were taken to anywhere from Massachusetts to the Caribbean or South America. But what about Mexico? As cultural anthropologist Dr. Bobby Vaughn said, “If you are like most people, you probably have never heard of Afro-Mexicans and are completely unaware that they exist.”

Just who are the Afro-Mexicans? They are the descendants of African slaves who were brought to Mexico as early as the start of the 16th century. Some of these Africans were also slaves who had escaped from bondage in North America. Like their African-American counterparts, many of today’s Afro-Mexicans also have European and indigenous people who populate their family trees.

Vaughn, who is passionate about these forgotten roots, wrote his Ph.D. dissertation, Race and Ethnicity: A Study of Blackness in Mexico, on the subject. While Vaughn was an undergraduate student at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, he spent his junior year studying Spanish in Mexico City. Vaughn’s Mexican immersion started his curiosity about the history and culture of Mexico and its people. He’s been traveling to the country and taking down notes ever since.

On his site, AfroMexico,Vaughn covers the African presence in Mexico extensively. He especially explores the presence of African descendants in Vera Cruz and the Costa Chica region. According to Mexican anthropologist Gonzalo Aguirre Beltran, the black population in colonial Mexico was 20,569 in 1570 and 15,980 in 1742.

According to Vaughn:

The black population in the early colony was by far larger than that of the Spanish. In 1570 we see that the black population is about 3 times that of the Spanish. In 1646, it is about 2.5 times as large, and in 1742, blacks still outnumber the Spanish. It is not until 1810 that Spaniards are more numerous.

But this legacy is not talked about much—not even among historians and anthropologists. “To this day the deep cultural and economic impact that Africans had in Mexico is neither accepted nor acknowledged in the official history of Mexico,” said filmaker Rafael Rebollar Corona who directed the film The Forgotten Root. With his film, Corona meticulously documents this hidden history about Mexico.

Esther Iverem, creator and editor of SeeingBlack.com, says this about the virtual silence among historians regarding the Africans in Mexico:

Like in much of Latin America, a caste system based on race and color was instituted in Mexico. Those who were whiter and more visibly European received more privileges and social mobility, while darker or more visibly African peoples were typecast as servants or menial laborers. Historians have furthered this bias by emphasizing the European aspects of the culture, or by defining the country’s mestizo heritage as a mixture only of White Spaniards and native peoples.

With The Forgotten Root, Corona reminds us of the African roots in music such as son jarocho and other musical forms like marimba and Cuban son. He pays tribute to a culture that is not talked about much but is obvious from the look of those Mexicans (and their children) who have some of that African blood flowing through them

HILLSBORO — Three students at Liberty High School have been charged in an October gang shooting.

Miguel Reyes Gonzales and Ezequiel Santos Gomez, both 16, and Carlos Peguero Villa, 17, have been charged with attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon against another.

The three teens were arraigned last week in connection with the Oct. 11 shooting and are being held in the Washington County Jail on $250,000 bail each. Their preliminary hearings are set for Wednesday in Washington County Circuit Court, at which time the charges may be amended.

All three told police they were members of the 13th Street gang, said Lt. Michael Rouches, spokesman for the Hillsboro Police Department. They were arrested after Gonzales allegedly shot Fermin Mandujano-Marin, 22, of Hillsboro.

Rouches said Gonzales had been shopping in the 1000 block of Southeast Walnut Street and was on the sidewalk a couple blocks away, making gang signs with his hands, when Mandujano-Marin drove by.

Rouches said Mandujano-Marin was a member of the rival 18th Street Tiny Winos Sureno gang. He walked up to Gonzales and asked why he was making the gang signs, Rouches said.

Gonzales allegedly responded by shooting Mandujano-Marin in the thigh with a .32 caliber semi-automatic pistol. Rouches said the slug didn’t cause serious damage because it didn’t strike bone or sever a vein or artery. Gomez and Villa are thought to have served as “lookouts,” Rouches said.

“They were looking for an 18th Street gang member to shoot or fight with,” Rouches said. “They were looking for trouble and they found it.”

A week or two ago I fell into conversation with a constituent, a middle-aged, quite ordinary working man employed in one of our nationalized industries. After a sentence or two about the weather, he suddenly said: “If I had the money to go, I wouldn’t stay in this country.”
I made some deprecatory reply, to the effect that even this Government wouldn’t last for ever; but he took no notice, and continued: “I have three children, all of them have been through grammar school and two of them married now, with family. I shan’t be satisfied till I have seen them settled overseas. In this country in fifteen or twenty years’ time the black man will have the whip hand over the white man.”
I can already hear the chorus of execration. How dare I say such a horrible thing? How dare I stir up trouble and inflame feelings by repeating such a conversation?
The answer is that I do not have the right not to do so. Here is a decent, ordinary fellow Englishman, who in broad daylight in my own town says to me, his Member of Parliament, that this country will not be worth living in for his children. I simply do not have the right to shrug my shoulders and think about something else.
What he is saying, thousands and hundreds of thousands are saying and thinking—not throughout Great Britain, perhaps, but in the areas that are already undergoing the total transformation to which there is no parallel in a thousand years of English history.
In fifteen or twenty years, on present trends, there will be in this country 3 1/2 million Commonwealth immigrants and their descendants. That is not my figure. That is the official figure given to Parliament by the spokesman of the Registrar General’s office. There is no comparable official figure for the year 2000, but it must be in the region of 5-7 million, approximately one-tenth of the whole population, and approaching that of Greater London.
Of course, it will not be evenly distributed from Margate to Aberystwyth and from Penzance to Aberdeen. Whole areas, towns and parts of towns across England will be occupied by different sections of the immigrant and immigrant-descended population.
As time goes on, the proportion of this total who are immigrant descendants, those born in England, who arrived here by exactly the same route as the rest of us, will rapidly increase. Already by 1985 the native-born would constitute the majority. It is this fact above all which creates the extreme urgency of action now, of just that kind of action which is hardest for politicians to take, action where the difficulties lie in the present but the evils to be prevented or minimized lie several parliaments ahead.
The natural and rational first question with a nation confronted by such a prospect is to ask: “How can its dimensions be reduced?” Granted it be not wholly preventable, can it be limited, bearing in mind that numbers are of the essence: the significance and consequences of an alien element introduced into a country or population are profoundly different according to whether that element is 1 per cent or 10 per cent.
The answers to the simple and rational question are equally simple and rational: by stopping or virtually stopping, further inflow, and by promoting the maximum outflow. Both answers are part of the official policy of the Conservative Party.
It almost passes belief that at this moment twenty or thirty additional immigrant children are arriving from overseas in Wolverhampton alone every week—and that means fifteen or twenty additional families of a decade or two hence. Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad. We must be mad, literally mad, as a nation to be permitting the annual inflow of some 50,000 dependants, who are for the most part the material of the future growth of the immigrant-descended population.
It is like watching a nation busily engaged in heaping up its own funeral pyre.
So insane are we that we actually permit unmarried persons to immigrate for the purpose of founding a family with spouses and fiancées whom they have never seen. Let no one suppose that the flow of dependants will automatically tail off. On the contrary, even at the present admission rate of only 5,000 a year by voucher, there is sufficient for a further 325,000 dependants per annum ad infinitum, without taking into account the huge reservoir of existing relations in this country—and I am making no allowance at all for fraudulent entry.
In these circumstances nothing will suffice but that the total inflow for settlement should be reduced at once to negligible proportions, and that the necessary legislative and administrative measures be taken without delay. I stress the words “for settlement”. This has nothing to do with the entry of Commonwealth citizens, any more than of aliens, into this country, for the purposes of study or of improving their qualifications, like (for instance) the Commonwealth doctors who, to the advantage of their own countries, have enabled our hospital service to be expanded faster than would otherwise have been possible. These are not, and never have been, immigrants.
I turn to re-emigration. If all immigration ended tomorrow, the rate of growth of the immigrant and immigrant-descended population would be substantially reduced, but the prospective size of this element in the population would still leave the basic character of the national danger unaffected. This can only be tackled while a considerable proportion of the total still comprises persons who entered this country during the last ten years or so. Hence the urgency of implementing now the second element of the Conservative Party’s policy: the encouragement of re-emigration.
Nobody can make an estimate of the numbers which, with generous grants and assistance, would choose either to return to their countries of origin or to go to other countries anxious to receive the manpower and the skills they represent. Nobody knows, because no such policy has yet been attempted. I can only say that, even at present, immigrants in my own constituency from time to time come to me, asking if I can find them assistance to return home. If such a policy were adopted and pursued with the determination which the gravity of the alternative justifies, the resultant outflow could appreciably alter the prospects for the future.
It can be no part of any policy that existing family should be kept divided; but there are two directions in which families can be reunited, and if our former and present immigration laws have brought about the division of families, albeit voluntary or semi-voluntarily, we ought to be prepared to arrange for them to be reunited in their countries of origin.
In short, suspension of immigration and encouragement of re-emigration hang together, logically and humanly, as two aspects of the same approach.
The third element of the Conservative Party’s policy is that all who are in this country as citizens should be equal before the law and that there shall be no discrimination or difference made between them by public authority. As Mr. Heath has put it, we will have no “first-class citizens” and “second-class citizens”.
This does not mean that the immigrant and his descendants should be elevated into a privileged or special class or that the citizen should be denied his right to discriminate in the management of his own affairs between one fellow citizen and another or that he should be subjected to inquisition as to his reasons and motives for behaving in one lawful manner rather than another.
There could be no grosser misconception of the realities than is entertained by those who vociferously demand legislation as they call it “against discrimination”, whether they be leader-writers of the same kidney and sometimes on the same newspapers which year after year in the 1930s tried to blind this country to the rising peril which confronted it, or archbishops who live in palaces, faring delicately with the bedclothes pulled right over their heads. They have got it exactly and diametrically wrong. The discrimination and the deprivation, the sense of alarm and resentment, lies not with the immigrant population but with those among whom they have come and are still coming.
This is why to enact legislation of the kind before Parliament at this moment is to risk throwing a match on to the gunpowder. The kindest thing that can be said about those who propose and support it is they know not what they do.
Nothing is more misleading than comparison between the Commonwealth immigrant in Britain and the American Negro. The Negro population of the United states, which was already in existence before the United States became a nation, started literally as slaves and were later given the franchise and other rights of citizenship, to the exercise of which they have only gradually and still incompletely come. The Commonwealth immigrant came to Britain as a full citizen, to a country which knows no discrimination between one citizen and another, and he entered instantly into the possession of the rights of every citizen, from the vote to free treatment under the National Health Service. Whatever drawbacks attended the immigrants—and they were drawbacks which did not, and do not, make admission into Britain by hook or by crook appear less than desirable—arose not from the law or from public policy or from administration but from those personal circumstances and accidents which cause, and always will cause, the fortunes and experience of one man to be different for another’s.
But while to the immigrant entry to this country was admission to privileges and opportunities eagerly sought, the impact upon the existing population was very different. For reasons which they could not comprehend, and in pursuance of a decision by default, on which they were never consulted, they found themselves made strangers in their own country. They found their wives unable to obtain hospital beds in childbirth, their children unable to obtain school places, their homes and neighbourhoods changed beyond recognition, their plans and prospects for the future defeated; at work they found that employers hesitated to apply to the immigrant worker the standards of discipline and competence required of the native-born worker; they began to hear, as time went by, more and more voices which told them that they were now the unwanted.
On top of this, they now learn that a one-way privilege is to be established by Act of Parliament: a law, which cannot, and is not intended, to operate to protect them or redress their grievances, is to be enacted to give the stranger, the disgruntled and the agent provocateur the power to pillory them for their private actions.
In the hundreds upon hundreds of letters I received when I last spoke on this subject two or three months ago, there was one striking feature which was largely new and which I find ominous. All Members of Parliament are used to the typical anonymous correspondent; but what surprised and alarmed me was the high proportion of ordinary, decent, sensible people, writing a rational and often well-educated letter, who believed that they had to omit their address because it was dangerous to have committed themselves to paper to a Member of Parliament agreeing with the views I had expressed, and that they would risk either penalties or reprisals if they were known to have done so.
The sense of being a persecuted minority which is growing among ordinary English people in the areas of the country which are affected is something that those without direct experience can hardly imagine.
I am going to allow just one of those hundreds of people to speak for me. She did give her name and address, which I have detached from the letter which I am about to read. She was writing from Northumberland about something which is happening at this moment in my own constituency:
Eight years ago in a respectable street in Wolverhampton a house was sold to a Negro. Now only one white (a woman old-age pensioner) lives there. This is her story. She lost her husband and both her sons in the war. So she turned her seven-roomed house, her only asset, into a boarding house. She worked hard and did well, paid off her mortgage and began to put something by for her old age. Then the immigrants moved in. With growing fear, she saw one house after another taken over. The quiet streets became a place of noise and confusion. Regretfully, her white tenants moved out.
The day after the last one left, she was awakened at 7 a.m. by two Negroes who wanted to use her phone to contact their employer. When she refused, as she would have refused any stranger at such an hour, she was abused and feared she would have been attacked but for the chain on her door. Immigrant families have tried to rent rooms in her house, but she always refused. Her little store of money went, and after paying her rates, she had less than £2 per week. She went to apply for a rate reduction and was seen by a young girl, who on hearing she had a seven-roomed house, suggested she should let part of it. When she said the only people she could get were Negroes, the girl said “racial prejudice won’t get you anywhere in this country”. So she went home.
The telephone is her lifeline. Her family pay the bill, and help her out as best they can. Immigrants have offered to buy her house—at a price which the prospective landlord would be able to recover from his tenants in weeks, or at most in a few months. She is becoming afraid to go out. Windows are broken. She finds excreta pushed through her letterbox. When she goes to the shops, she is followed by children, charming, wide-grinning piccaninnies. They cannot speak English, but one word they know. “Racialist”, they chant. When the new Race Relations Bill is passed, this woman is convinced she will go to prison. And is she so wrong? I begin to wonder.
The other dangerous delusion from which those who are wilfully or otherwise blind to realities suffer, is summed up in the word “integration”.
To be integrated into a population means to become for all practical purposes indistinguishable from its other members. Now, at all times, where there are marked physical differences, especially of colour, integration is difficult though, over a period, not impossible. There are among the Commonwealth immigrants have come to live here in the last fifteen years or so, many thousands whose wish and purpose is to be integrated and whose every thought and endeavour is bent in that direction. But to imagine that such a thing enters the heads of a great and growing majority of immigrants and their descendants is a ludicrous misconception, and a dangerous one to boot.
We are on the verge of here of a change. Hitherto it has been force of circumstance and of background which has rendered the very idea of integration inaccessible to the greater part of the immigrant population—that they never conceived or intended such a thing, and that their numbers and physical concentration meant the pressures towards integration which normally bear upon any small minority did not operate. Now we are seeing the growth of positive forces acting against integration, of vested interests in the preservation and sharpening of racial and religious differences, with a view to the exercise of actual domination, first over fellow immigrants and then over the rest of the population.
The cloud no bigger than a man’s hand, that can so rapidly overcast the sky, has been visible recently in Wolverhampton and has shown signs of spreading quickly. The words I am about to use, verbatim as they appeared in the local press on 17 February, are not mine, but those of a Labour Member of Parliament who is a Minister in the present Government.
The Sikh communities’ campaign to maintain customs inappropriate in Britain is much to be regretted. Working in Britain, particularly in the public services, they should be prepared to accept the terms and conditions of their employment. To claim special communal rights (or should one say rites?) leads to a dangerous fragmentation within society. This communalism is a canker: whether practised by one colour or another it is to be strongly condemned.
All credit to John Stonehouse for having had the insight to perceive that, and the courage to say it.
For these dangerous and divisive elements the legislation proposed in the Race Relations Bill is the very pabulum they need to flourish. Here is the means of showing that the immigrant communities can organize to consolidate their members, to agitate and campaign against their fellow citizens, and to overawe and dominate the rest with the legal weapons which the ignorant and the ill-informed have provided.
As I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding. Like the Roman, I seem to see “the River Tiber foaming with much blood”.
That tragic and intractable phenomenon which we watch with horror on the other side of the Atlantic but which there is interwoven with the history and existence of the States itself, is coming upon us here by our own volition and our own neglect.
Indeed, it has all but come. In numerical terms, it will be of American proportions long before the end of the century. Only resolute and urgent action will avert it even now.
Whether there will be the public will to demand and obtain that action, I do not know.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Woodburn Police Department and the Marion County District Attorney’s Office,

arrested two men generic mexicans most likely illegal ,

Wednesday morning after a May 2009 burglary investigation in Otis, Oregon led to a Woodburn area home and a stolen laptop computer. OSP investigators were led to the home with the help of tracking software installed in the laptop computer as a preventative measure in case it was stolen.

On May 11, 2009 an OSP trooper responded to a reported burglary at an Otis-area residence in the 29000 block of Salmon River Highway. The victim reported the theft of property including a laptop computer that had LoJack tracking software installed. The trooper worked with the LoJack company and determined a location of computer activity to a residence in the 1100 block of Dahlia Street in Woodburn.

Working in conjunction with the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, a search warrant was authorized. On December 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. OSP Criminal Investigations Division detectives from Salem and Lincoln City, along with troopers and Woodburn police, served the search warrant that led to the seizure of the stolen laptop computer and fake social security cards.

Two residents were taken into custody for Unlawful Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree. Booked into the Marion County Jail were ARTURO LUNA-ERASMO, age 21, and JAVIER TENTZOHUA-LOPEZ, age 20. LUNA-ERASMO will also be charged in Tillamook County with Theft by Receiving.

The investigation is continuing into who was involved in the Otis burglary leading to the stolen laptop ending up at the Woodburn residence.

A Welches-area woman Generic Mexican Female with Fake blonde hair received non-life threatening injuries Tuesday morning in a single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 213 near Herigstad Road north of Silverton. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation.According to OSP Recruit Trooper Ray Henschel, on December 2, 2009 at approximately 8:15 a.m. a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by ARCELIA RUIZ-MARTINEZ, age 28, from Welches, was southbound on Highway 213 near milepost 25 when it traveled off the highway. The vehicle continued into a dirt field as the driver attempted to drive back onto the highway. Once it traveled back on the roadway it flipped onto its roof and skidded about 100 feet across the pavement, stopping when it hit the opposite side embankment.RUIZ-MARTINEZ was trapped inside the vehicle and had been using safety restraints. She was extricated by Silverton Fire and EMS personnel then transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland with non-life threatening injuries.
( what are the chances she had health insurance? not too good- I bet the taxpayers get to pay for this mexican’s injuries with her crappy mexican driving. Silverton is a stone’s throw from all mexican Woodburn, so one wonder if she was visiting her illegal alien relatives or illegal alien boyfriend?
Traffic was detoured around the scene for about one hour.

SEATTLE — Maurice Clemmons, the suspect in the brutal, execution-style slaying of four Parkland, Wash. police officers, was shot and killed Tuesday morning in the South Seattle area after confronting police.

Police said they found one of the dead officer’s guns on Clemmons.

Several other people in the Seattle and Tacoma areas have been arrested and face charges of aiding and abetting the alleged cop killer. Police said they arrested the suspected getaway driver who helped Clemmons escape Parkland after he allegedly walked into a coffee shop and gunned down Parkland Sergeant Mark Renninger, 39, and Officers Ronald Owens, 37, Tina Griswold, 40, and Greg Richards, 42.

Maurice Clemmons, 37, has been upgraded from a “person of interest” in the shooting of four Lakewood, Washington police officers, to a “suspect.” In addition, a police spokesman hinted that Clemmons may actually be dead.

According to The Seattle Times, Clemmons has been surrounded by police officers inside a Leschi neighborhood home located in Seattle. At a 3:00 a.m. press briefing, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said of Clemmons, “He has suffered a gunshot wound.” It is believed the gunshot came during the attack on police officers Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39, and officers Ronald Owens, 37, Tina Griswold, 40, and Gregory Richards, 42, and was fired by one of the officers.

Maurice Clemmons

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department has said they are looking for a person of interest in connection with this morning’s deadly shooting of four Lakewood police officers.

They are calling Maurice Clemmons, 37, a person of interest, not a suspect. He recently was released from jail and has extensive criminal history.

“He is somebody we want to talk to,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Investigators believe he was in the area.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department has identified a person of interest in the November 29, 2009, murder of four Lakewood Police officers. The person of interest is Maurice Clemmons, a 37 year old black male from the Parkland area of Pierce County. Clemmons is 5’8″ tall, 235 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes, and a mole on his left cheek.

Clemmons has extensive violent criminal history from Arkansas, including aggravated robbery and theft. He has also recently been arrested and charged in Pierce County for Assault 3rd on a Police Officer and for Rape of a Child.

Clemmons should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. If the public has any information on his whereabouts, call any tips to the Sheriff’s Department tip line at 1-866-977-2362.

UPDATE: Clemmons, described as a person of interest in the fatal shooting today of four Lakewood police officers, was granted clemency in 2004 by Mike Huckabee, then governor of Arkansas.

A 2004 news account from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette described the decision:

Pulaski County prosecutors dropped aggravated-robbery charges Monday against a 32-year-old Little Rock man paroled in 2001 after Gov. Mike Huckabee commuted the man’s 95-year sentence.

Maurice Clemmons served 11 years after his conviction for aggravated robbery in 1989. He was paroled in August 2000. Huckabee cited Clemmons’ young age at the time of his sentence – 17 – in the proclamation announcing the clemency.

After his release from the state Department of Correction, Clemmons violated his parole and was returned to prison in July 2001. He was released March 18, 2004.

Little Rock police obtained a warrant charging Clemmons with two counts of aggravated robbery and theft in the March 26, 2001, robberies of Gary Ervin and Jennifer Chime. The robberies occurred when Clemmons was out on parole.

But the warrants were not served for three years until Clemmons, now 32, was being released from state prison.

Defense attorney Stephen Morley asked Circuit Judge Barry Sims to dismiss the new charges. Morley argued that too much time had elapsed between the issuance of the warrant and Clemmons’ arrest.

In a brief hearing Monday in Sims’ court, prosecutors announced they would drop the charges.

UPDATE No. 2: Local charges against Clemmons date to May and July. Jail records show Clemmons was arrested and released four times between May and September, and most recently released from jail Nov. 24, five days before the Lakewood shootings.

In May, Clemmons was charged with multiple counts of third-degree assault and malicious mischief. The May 9 incident occurred in the 13100 block of 12th Avenue South, court documents state. Clemmons and two accomplices were confronted about multiple vehicles with broken windows. A sheriff’s deputy tried to arrest the two accomplices, who fought.

During the struggle, Clemmons emerged from a house and joined in the fight, punching the deputy in the face. A second deputy arrived, and the three men were arrested. Jail records indicate Clemmons bailed out of jail on May 11.

In July, Clemmons was arrested and charged with second-degree child rape. He bailed out on July 27. Prosecutors also discovered that Clemmons had an outstanding arrest warrant from the state of Arkansas. The Arkansas warrant was dismissed in July.

Prosecutors trying to multiple charges ordered Clemmons to undergo a mental evaluation to determine his competency to stand trial. Clemmons was found competent, according to court records.

___ Maurice Clemmons received a 35-year sentence in the early 1990s for armed robbery and theft. His sentence was commuted in May 2000, and he was let out three months later.

___ The following March, Clemmons committed two armed robberies and other crimes and was sentenced to 10 years. You’d think they’d keep him locked up after that, but no: He was paroled last March and is now wanted for aggravated robbery and I suppose a few questions about this case as well.

On Friday, November 25th about 8:20 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers from the Portland Area Command responded to a single vehicle, auto vs. pedestrian, traffic collision on SR 99E north of Meldrum Ave near Gladstone. The investigation showed that Maria Isabel Cervantes-Gutierrez, 60, from Milwaukie, was crossing SR 99E from east to west when she was struck by a Chevrolet Astrovan being driven by Nathan Sheets, 24, of Milwaukie. Cervantes-Gutierrez was transported by AMR ambulance to OHSU hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Based on evidence at the scene and witness statements, it appears Cervantes-Gutierrez was crossing SR 99E mid-block and was not in a crosswalk when she was struck.

Sheets stopped his van immediately and remained at the scene until police and medical personnel arrived and cooperated fully in the investigation. The southbound lanes of SR 99E were closed for approximately two hours while troopers from the Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the collision. No citations have been issued and the investigation is continuing. On November 27, 2009 at approximately 2:45 pm 30 year old ALEJANDRO REYES CRUZ of Gresham & his family Mexico were stopped for a red light facing Southbound in the left turn lane on SE Stark at SE 181st. While waiting for the light REYES CRUZ was suddenly struck from behind by a pick up truck, which left the scene Eastbound on SE 181st. The force of the impact pushed his car forward into another vehicle being operated by 24 year old JUAN VELASQUEZ LUNDA of Gresham. Mexico REYES CRUZ, his wife and 6 year old son anchor baby ( one of 4 million in the US and 3 million are mexican) were all injured with neck, stomach and back pain. They were all transported to area hospitals for treatment. VELASQUEZ LUNDA was also injured with neck & back pain. He too was transported to the hospital. Everyone was wearing their seatbelts and the child was properly secured in a booster seat.

The suspect is described as a White Male hit by ARISTEO PEREZ AGUILAR illegal no license , no ID , no English mexican piece of trash-approximately 20 years of age. The vehicle is described as a dark tan or light brown Chevrolet pick up . The vehicle should have moderate front-end damage. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of this person and/or the vehicle please contact the Gresham Police.

Salem Police Dept. – 11/25/09

SALEM POLICE DEPARTMENT2 year old struck and killed while walking in parking lot.On November 24th at 5:52 PM, the Salem Police Department and Salem Fire Department were dispatched to 3876 Sunnyview Rd NE regarding a child that was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the Stoneridge Apartments. The child, 2 year old Erika Rubi Meza was struck by a pickup truck that left the scene after the incident. Due to her injuries, Erika Meza died at the scene.

A subsequent investigation showed Erika and her sister were walking through the parking lot of the apartment complex when a white Ford four door pickup truck struck Erika. The truck continued through the parking lot and left the scene on Sunnyview Rd NE.

The Salem Police Traffic Unit was called in to conduct the crash investigation and remained on scene until 11:00 pm. Later in the evening at 11:40 pm, the Salem Police Department received information advising the truck involved in the accident was located in the 2100 block of Maple Avenue NE in Salem. Officers responded to the scene and ultimately arrested Juan Lopez-Perez for Felony Hit and Run. Lopez-Perez is 31 years old and a illegal alien from MexicoSalem resident. Lopez-Perez was lodged in the Marion County Jail and is set for arraignment at 1 p.m. today. This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Salem Police Department Traffic Unit at 503-588-6171. Further information will be released by the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.

Adrian Rodriguez- I can tell from looking at her that she is a white woman, native born, not hispanic, and that she made the huge mistake of marrying a mexican, which always takes a woman down. I know of another white woman who hooked up with a mexican drug cartel dealer and ended up in prison and lost her kids. Mexicans are always a bad move.There are so many mug shots of white women with mexican surnames.

On October 29, 2009, a Linn County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Adrian Renee Rodriguez, age 38, on nine counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor and one count of frequenting a place where controlled substances are used. The charges are related to the investigation into the death of 14-year-old Quentin Alexander Thacker, whose body was found in a ditch near South 9th Street and W. “C” Street in Lebanon on January 18, 2009.

The investigation, led by detectives from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, determined that Quentin had died after using marijuana and consuming alcohol at a party hosted by Rodriguez, at 1190 S. 9th Street, a residence where she lived at the time. Quentin’s body was located approximately 120 yards south of the residence.

An autopsy determined that Quentin had died of “asphyxiation by drowning.” A toxicological examination determined that at the time of his death, Quentin had a blood alcohol concentration of .21 percent, and also a positive test for cannabinoids, indicating marijuana use.

The charges against Rodriguez involve eight other minors in addition to Quentin.

Rodriguez is in custody at the Linn County Jail, where she has been since October 13, 2009, when she was arrested on an unrelated parole violation sanction.

This investigation is continuing, and additional charges against Rodriguez or others is possible.

OREGON CITY — The family of a Texas girl murdered in 2007 is suing Clackamas County, claiming law enforcement officers knew her killer illegally entered the United States and failed to report him to immigration authorities.

The estate of Dani Countryman is seeking $3.5 million in damages, according to the Clackamas County Circuit Court filing.

Countryman, 15, died during a sexual assault July 28, 2007, after an all-night party at an Oak Grove apartment complex. She was in Oregon visiting relatives.

Edward S. McGlone III, assistant Clackamas County counsel, declined to comment on the complaint.

Alejandro Emeterio “Alex” Rivera Gamboa, 26, was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 35 years. He attempted to subdue Countryman, fatally choking her, as his cousin, Gilberto Javier “Gabe” Arellano Gamboa, tried to rape her.

Arellano Gamboa, 25, was sentenced to five years, 10 months in prison.

Both men were in the country illegally and will be deported to Mexico after serving their sentences.

The lawsuit claims that a Clackamas County probation officer and unnamed sheriff’s office employees failed to report Rivera Gamboa to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Oregonian reported that Rivera Gamboa pleaded guilty to drunken driving in November 2006. He signed a plea agreement that stated he was not a U.S. citizen and was released without anyone in the criminal justice system notifying immigration authorities.

RICHMOND, Calif.—A sixth suspect has been charged in the gang rape of 16-year-old girl outside Richmond High School’s homecoming dance. That makes 4 wetbacks as we like to say at AP.

Richmond Police Lt. Mark Gagan says 21-year-old Elvis Torrentes was charged Thursday with rape by a foreign object of a person unable to resist due to intoxication, rape by a foreign object while acting in concert and rape while acting in concert.

Police say Torrentes was one of as many as 10 people who participated in the Oct. 24 attack on the girl in a dimly lit courtyard on campus. The victim was found naked and semi-conscious after the nearly two-hour assault.

Investigators believe as many as 20 people may have watched the rape without calling police.

Contra Costa County prosecutors have filed rape charges against five others, ranging in age from 15 to 21.

The parents who set off a worldwide drama by reporting their 6-year-old son was inside a flying saucer-like helium balloon hurtling over Colorado concocted the stunt to market themselves for a television show, a sheriff said Sunday.

Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said at an extraordinarily candid news conference that the boy, Falcon Heene, may not have even been hiding in the rafters of the family’s garage during the intense five-hour search for him Thursday afternoon.

“For all we know he may have been two blocks down the road playing on the swing in the city park,” the sheriff said.

Alderden said the parents Richard and Mayumi Heene “put on a very good show for us, and we bought it.”

The sheriff said no charges had been filed yet, and the parents weren’t under arrest. He said he expected to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant.

Some of the most serious charges each carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
