Friday afternoon McMinnville detectives arrested Jose Angel Valencia-Nunez of McMinnville for the September 30 shooting of Jacob Way. The shooting occurred in the 2100 block of NW Evans Street. According to several witnesses, Way and two other men were involved in a confrontation and during the fight Way received a gunshot wound. Valencia-Nunez ran off and Way was taken to the Willamette Valley Medical Center by friends. Way is currently recovering from his wounds.

On October 1st, McMinnville Police sought assistance from the public in identifying the owner of the bicycle left at the scene of the incident. The bike is a rusty brown Redline

BMX Petty Cash model with silver skull tire valve covers on both wheels, a dollar sign on front gear wheel, and white “Petty Cash” stickers on both sides of the top cross bar. The Police Department received information connecting the bicycle to Valencia-Nunez.

Further details regarding the incident are not being released as the investigation is continuing.

On 04/07/09 at approximately 5:18 pm, Yamhill Communications received a report from a female caller of a disturbance at 1110 NE 14th Street in McMinnville. The caller was able to provide few details before the call ended.When McMinnville Officers arrived at the location they contacted an adult Hispanic male exiting the residence. He reported to officers that another male was still inside the residence, was armed with a hand gun and had pointed it at the male. A safety perimeter was established which resulted in several surrounding streets being closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.Attempts to make contact with persons inside the residence were made but were not successful. McMinnville Officers entered the residence, but no persons were found inside. The streets in the area were re-opened at approximately 6:45 pm.

The Hispanic male originally contacted leaving the residence was identified as Nelson Gomez Velazco, date of birth 05/28/85. He was lodged at the Yamhill County Jail on an un-related charge of Possession of Methamphetamine and Probation Violation. His bail was set at $15000.
