Canby really does have a mexican gang problem.
wher eever mexicans go they spoil their nests.
My nephew has lived in Canby for the last 20+ years.
He has seen it grow from a very quiet rural community to a suburb of portland with a huge increase in population
There is gang problem there, and although it may not be on the scale of a SoCal city, it is there.
Through the years it has steadily grown, and it is a problem.

Citizen reports gang members fighting
Canby Police arrest 14 after two separate gang fights during the General Canby Days Fireworks Show. The first incident started at 10:35pm after a citizen reported that over 20 gang members were fighting at the corner of Township Rd and S Redwood Street in Canby.
The first Officers to arrive found a large number of Sureno gang members standing in the middle of the street. One gang member armed with a knife ran from arriving officers. This resulted in a foot pursuit and the suspect was not located.
The remaining gang members disregarded the officer’s orders to leave the area and became very verbal and belligerent with the responding officers.
Due to the large amount of gang members, the arriving officers called for cover officers to respond. Officers took 7 male juvenile Sureno gang members into custody, ages ranging from 15 years old to 17 years old. They were charged with Disorderly Conduct and Interfering with a Police Officer. Two male adult Sureno gang members were arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Interfering with a Police Officer.
The two adult gang members are:
JOSE ENRIQUE PEREZ DOB: 12-15-87
HECTOR MONTOYA-GUTIERREZ DOB: 9-5-88
MARIO CAMARENA-ZAMORA DOB: 1-30-82
Charges: RESISTING ARREST AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT
OMAR CAMARENA DOB: 2-17-83
Charges: RESISTING ARREST AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT
The 5th suspect is an associate of the Norteno gang:
MAYOLO ORTEGA-RAMIREZ DOB: 1-5-74
Charges: RESISTING ARREST, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, AND INTERFERING WITH A POLICE OFFICER
These suspects were lodged at the Clackamas County Jail.
No officers or citizens were injured during this very dangerous situation. There were hundreds of families attending the General Canby Days Fireworks Show while these incidents were occurring. Officers reported that there were many frightened parents and children that witnessed the actions of the gang members.
If you live in town, it is evident. If you live on the outskirts, not so much.
And if you got kids in high school, it’s really obvious.
If you don’t believe me, go hang out on the main drag some weekend in the early morning hours. Here’s some real life, fact based, undisputable, documented examples:

At 10:50pm Canby Officers in the same area received a report of another gang fight. Arriving Officers found members of the Norteno gang standing in the middle of Township Road. When the Officers told the gang members to move from the street they began to challenge the officers.

Officers learned that the Norteno gang members were attempting to get into a Sureno gang members house located near the intersection of Township and S Redwood Street and may have been armed with a bat.
